Is it possible to run a nvidia video card purely for physx and have an ATI card used as my primary only for graphics(using hacks)? and if so what nvidia card would go with a 6950 2gb vram without slowing it down?

Yes you can, and I've done it with my 6850 and my old 8800GT - but only because the 8800GT was sitting around doing nothing.

Don't bother buying a card just for PhysX, put the money towards other components because you'll get more of a benefit.
