Probably a dumb question, but can I pair an Nvidia card with my ATI 7870, and use the nvidia as a dedicated PhysX card? My Motherboard is an Asus P7P55D Evo, with 3 PCIE slots (can do x8 x8 too)

If so, would a card such as a 9800GT or GTS250 be enough to handle PhysX in games like Mafia II, Mirrors Edge and Metro?

Yes, I used to do it using a 5870 then a 6950/70 with my 9800gt using the physx hack with great performance.

If its for the games you said, then yes, they specific titles will definately work.

You may have a problem with newer titles as I'm not sure whether genl iirc is still updating the hack or not.

If you have a spare 9800gt kicking around then go for it, but I wouldn't pay more than £30 to buy one unless you find out if the hack is still supported.

Do the people that keep on repeating after one another saying the 9800GT/GTS250 level card as PhysX will slow the game down even actually have experience of trying it with the said cards?

And even If that is the case...applying higher AA would slow the cards down too...so I guess people should go around and keep telling everyone not to use high AA? I mean afterall, the the difference between 2xAA and 4xAA, 4xAA and 8xAA isn't even that noticable, when comparing to a PhysX game with the difference between PhysX enabled and disabled.
