Hello. So Iv been tinkering with the Pi 3 to use it as a VPN router. I've tried a few walkthroughs and Youtube vids but TBH Im not exactly sure Im doing it correctly. I really dont have a good grasp on the networking side of tech. But I can learn. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Surely following a step by step guide and especially a video you know if you’ve got a working result at the end? How about telling us which OS/distro, which protocol/provider and which guide you’ve followed and what you think isn’t working?

All the tutorials Iv followed are using OpenVPN.I have followed this tutorial but its a bit old. I get to the point in the video and my screen doesnt look like it does in the clip. My screen has a lot of what looks like random characters. In the video there are 19 line. In mine I think it was maybe 70ish. Never took any pics to show. I probably should have

I have also followed this one

I can get to the end and actually have a connection using the OpenVPN app on both Windows and Android. But in both cases my actuall IP address is showing up and not the VPN I set. I thought the VPN I set up would show in available Networks?

I have set the Pi up using the ethernet port.

So assuming I have the Pi configured correctly for the VPN. In what order do I connect the Pi to my router (Superhub3) I also have a Zgemma box I want to hook up. Is it the Pi to the router then the Zgemma to the Pi?

So I flashed R00ter firmware to the Pi and managed to get it up and running (sort of) In the R00ter GUI I cant see a section for Wireless. Its like it isnt enabled?

This doesn’t feel at all like a networking car crash. What was wrong with the previous method? It’s well documented and proven, and seemingly all you needed to do was spend 30 seconds putting the pi’s details into the piracy device ZGemma. How/why did we go from that, to flashing a router distro based on OpenWRT and a whole set of new issues/variables?

Its great tinkering into a new world of information! However you need to take it slow otherwise your gonna wreck the configuration and waste a lot of time.
