I've been using a mac mini running windows as a file and plex server for a while and thought I'd switch the task over to the Pi4 as it uses much less power and takes up less space.

They both have 8GB ram installed.

I can't tell which one is doing a better job.
the mac just had plex running with av and fw

the pi4 is running plex, openmediavault and pihole

network transfers seem a bit sluggish on the Pi4 even though it's got the advantage of having usb3 drives attached to it.

I'm running twister os with a GUI and now thinking to rebuild with CLI only but not sure how much of a difference that will make?

Any suggestions or ideas?

I've also been thinking of moving back to a Pi 4 for a NextCloud and Plex server.

I was using a Pi4 but moved it over to a Ryzen system - While things have been a lot faster and smoother, the power usage is awful.

The main thing putting my off moving back to a Pi is that it had trouble showing subtitles on Plex, as it had to transcode them in. And also a Pi with a couple HDDs attached looks messy.
