[PIC_THREAD] Macro

Some nice Dragonflies there :) What lens?

I have some to upload but I decided to sort this first. I filmed a Dragonfly for a while and caught it landing to eat what it just caught :)

Quality isn't fantastic but meh! It's a 100-400mm lens and it doesn't seem great at dealing with bright light :\ Here's the link

What absolute amazing images!

I have recently purchased a macro lens for my phone camera (s3)..... yes don't laugh :D it cost me £6.99. I was messing around with it and I couldn't believe the detail that you do not see with the normal eye (with my eyes anyway as I see naff all because my eyes are rubbish). I never have taken any photos other than holiday snaps.

These are no comparison to photos that have been posted but I liked them.

I have been inspired! (and have a lot to learn :p)

When I get enough money i'm going to buy a proper camera with macro lens.

i dont quite gather what that Raynox does?
It's a magnifier of sorts and allows a lot larger image on the sensor.

So a very tight crop on the fly from above (exif intact):

The only downside is you have to be very close to the subject, around 10cm i think but feels like less! Even then i've used stacked macro tubes + the raynox before so i literally had the subject touching the glass but the detail is mind blowing.

Hmm its moving into mp 65 territory
Gah.. Even closer
Harder for insects! Fine for non moving targets

Great detail!

Very hard but everyone of those shots above were moving insects just settled on a perch long enough for me to get close. In fact a few were still moving on their perch while shot. You could still get in flight shots with a raynox but they'd have to be very well timed, meticulous planning and a whole heap of luck.
