Pick one game you wish they did an updated version of.

Honestly, I expected a few more people to mention Pharaoh. It's ripe for a remake and it seems to be universally popular.

This!! Pharaoh would be fantastic - as long as they didn't completley ruin it like they did with Ceasar IV; what a load of tosh -_-

Duck Hunt !

You could do this for kinect, get it to recognise different hand positions for different weapons, would be fun :D

Monkey Island/Kings Quest :D
As mentioned, it has already been done. Held to the original game but updated graphics and sound.

Unreal Tournament. (99)
I still play 99 (GOTY) online and there are still a lot of servers that support it. Mods are incredible these days. I've been playing Monster Hunt maps where you can team up with other players and stalk zombies with map objectives. Pretty cool. :)

All the newer versions of UT are just getting too complex. I like the simple feel of UT 99.

Zork, as a first person shooter.
This was my first though when I saw the thread title. I haven't registered yet, but this could be interesting: http://legendsofzork.com/

I was going to suggest Dungeons & Dragons, but it appears that is done as well. http://www.wizards.com/dnd/

So, my vote is going to be: Leisure Suit Larry (uncensored ;) )

Jet Set Willy. The graphics are a little dated...

HL1 update would be nice. Perhaps Black Mesa if it ever appears.

Not sure i want to say anything. Wanted a sequel to Mafia for years, and then we get Mafia 2....:(
Suppose a Freelancer 2 might be okay, provided they did not mess around with it too much.

Bloodwych but I think they'd ruin it.

The ruined it first time out, on the Amstrad.

My CPC 464 version (on tape) wouldn't save. :( It was such a good little game too and even had Co-Op. Why couldn't they have had patches back then. Why!?:D
X-Wing Alliance.

I can't imagine them ever releasing another mainstream game with the crazy control system that games in this once fantastic genre possessed. Any new versions would be insultingly 'streamlined'... And in the case of the Star Wars games, they'd be based on the rubbish ships from the prequels. George would make sure of that. ;)

He'd probably make Jar Jar Binks your co-pilot too :(

XWA was a great game

this - so much this...i remember playing this game for hours as a kid. Had a contest with my best friend getting lap records. When he knocked me off first place on the Norway track I spent hours upon hours trying to get the record back. When I finally managed to get through a lap on nonstop turbo and was about to claim the record back, the game crashed :(

As a secondary mention - Megarace 2. Lance Boyle was such a laugh.

Nice to see I'm not the only one... it'd be easy for em to ruin, most devs don't seem to get that it was because the game was the way it was that made everyone love it so much. Duhhh

But yeah like I said, some nicer combat ai, improved graphics & animations, obviously win7 compatibility, it'd be an awesome game. Pharaoh was the most accomplished city building/economy management game out there because they balanced it just right. The only issue was managing to keep the highest-grade houses and citizens happy. It often resulted in homes downgrading to mud huts because bazaar distributors decided to go the wrong way down a road now and again, or a water carrier went in a less sensible direction. A bit of AI improvement would go a long way to making the game perfect.

I can imagine interrupting the grid-pattern nature of the game could introduce all sorts of issues, so they could keep it the same with easy rotation, it'd be seriously awesome

Play the first... then you will see. ;)

I may have to, it's just that old graphics put me off a game all too easily... I really enjoyed the story and gameplay of Mafia 2 though, there wasn't much freedom, but it wasn't made to be a GTA game in the first place. If they had more time, it could've been made into a full on sandbox city game (unlike GTA 4 which was just horrible) without affecting performance. I found the city fascinating and would've liked to explore 1940s/50s NYC a bit more but I was in it for the story and excellent firefights. The only letdown was the final battle, which like many felt contrived, restrictive and derivative (how many long words can I fit into a single sentence xD)

Another one I'd like to see remade though would be the 1st and 2nd splinter cells. They were really awesome modern stealth shooters which unfortunately lost their way. The Splinter Cell 'next gen' game just felt shallow by comparison. It's something I noticed about a lot of next-gen reboots, and next-gen console games in general. The gameplay's been dumbed down, options narrowed, difficulty lowered and length shortened. We still eat it up so it's no wonder it happens tbh

Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 is also way overdue... the hours I put in with those games :D
