Picked up my new toy today... seems to be in fantastic condition.

Nov 2009 first on the road, FPSH, 24k miles on the clock.

Spent its first 579 miles with Porsche and then has had a single female owner for the last 5+ years.

Took it straight down to Wheels in Motion in Chesham and got a clean bill of health with only some small adjustments necessary :D

Picked her up only 20 minutes down the road from the OcUK office too...

Already put about 400 miles on her & she drives beautifully... adore the PDK box and the induction noise is addictive. The balance and levels of grip available are surprising me (in a great way) even after having driven a few difference Porsches.

Front looks to have been OK... the rear wasn't toooo far out for a 6 year old car, but needed a bit of correction... nothing major at least and I got a good look at the underside :)

Looks nice, congratulations :)

Beautiful

Very nice, congrats

Looks awesome.

Lovely motor. I'll have an Avalon plz:p

Thanks guys :D

She looks chuffed, as you are I bet :)

Yup :D

Love the style of the wheels. Nice car indeed and those upgrades will make it even more special.

Funnily, I didn't actually like them to begin with... when I saw the first pictures they put me off a little (although I would choose function over image - so I didn't let it sway me over the other options) as I didn't think they looked that great in their images.

When I saw them in the flesh, I realised quite how nice they actually are and I think my pictures have brought them out quite well :D

Pretty car :D

Love the proposed upgrades sort of thing I would do! :D

Enjoy it.

Defo... I'm really rather impressed with how well it slides and holds the slide even without a LSD... it's just that initial breakaway would be easier with the LSD and the LSD will make it feel a little bit more forcefully rear-driven (although the mid-balance is fantastic).

It seems to break grip before there's any annoying inner-wheel spinning up... which is great :D

As for the PSE... it's a must hehe... I'm addicted to that induction noise in the cabin... especially good at about 4.5-6.5k rpm... the stock exhaust is hardly bad... just I happen to know how awesome a PSE sounds on these flat sixes... so I'm rather interested.

I'm still waiting on a quote back from Porsche warranty people... I'm still borderline going with Warranty Direct (they seem to be about the only company that don't force people to drag them through the courts for a claim as well as covering wear and tear failures, which Porsche won't) as it means I could go for a Miltek or Rennsport which are both nice and a 1/3 of the cost of the PSE, along with an aftermarket LSD that's rated quite highly.

Still umming and ahhing over potentials... I've got a few months to decide, will be continuing the warranty when the Dealer warranty expires, so don't plan on doing those bits much before the end of the year or early next.

Last pic looks good! Must be the angle of the others as the arch gap looks, quite big especially on 19s.

I think so :)

I'm sure I'll get plenty of practice taking better car photos now I have this... these were taken at the first semi-reasonable place I could find to pull over when the sun was peaking out from behind the clouds.

She looks immaculate. Enjoy it! :D

Looks a very well cared for example that does! Enjoy :D

She is! Absolutely beautiful condition. Paint condition is flawless. Apparently the wheels needed a refurb due to a few curbing marks (grrrr, women drivers)... but they're well balanced, so all is good :)

Even though it's nearly 6 years old, it still has that "new Porsche" smell... they're smell is quite distinctive to other cars, maybe it's the finish they put on the leather?

Drives like a dream... everything so tight and well stuck together. Highest mileage latest gen Porsche I've driven was a 911 C4S with about 140k km (bit under 90k miles) on the clock & that I could feel the bushes a bit wobbly and other bits (even though it was still a great car)... also drove a 14k km Porsche and the feeling of this Boxster is so close to that (play in steering / wobble / etc) it's fantastic :D

Interior pics :D :D

Very nice, always had a soft spot for these :)

I'm sure I'll get some in due course and update thread... sky's nice and clear today so I'll wait til golden hour and go and take some more photos... I'm in Poole at the moment and know the area really well (unlike where I was before).

I like it, but I wouldn't say this choice of paint colour would be my first choice if building my own from scratch... however I noticed something really nice about it on the drive south last night.

The way it reflects the pastel colours at sunset is really beautiful, it adds this extra dreamy shade in the reflection that's just plain pretty :D

I'm not a fan normally but yeah, she's a beaut ;-) Nice purchase man, and nice to see the tracking done and get the basics sweet before tampering

Thank you :)

Picking the car up to drift king in one day?!

Anyway, very nice motor.

Lol... not quite... but a little slide or two on some wide open tarmac to test the limits... was quite enjoyable. The first one took me a little bit by surprise was it was so progressive and communicative, it was no brown trousers moment, just correct and giggle :D

Plus on cars without an LSD... when I'm having a bit of fun with them and the inner wheel decides it wants to spin away... it's one of my pet annoyances, so of course I had to test it ;) This car passed with flying colours, pleasant surprise :D

Thanks :)

If it's the Porsche fit LSD and done by a Porsche Dealer / Workshop... then that would still be warranty-able, would it not?

I'm sure they offer it as a post-delivery install option... I'm just waiting on a price and expecting an horrific Porsche-tax.

Buuuut we'll see and yes - I would likely keep the original for resale.

I plan to keep this for at least 4 years (the duration of the finance agreement) and by the end of then, it will be right on the border of even being able to be covered by OPC warranty & that's only if it sold quickly.

I'm not particularly looking to cheap-out on an expensive car... I just don't like overpaying for things for no good reason & things like the LSD and PSE (PSE especially) seem rather overpriced for what they are... plus, I do kinda like the idea of a little customisation... even if it may not need it.

Lovely car mate, enjoy it!

Can I throw "Donna" in the hat? ;)

Not enough meat-flaps to name her after a kebab ;)

Lovely car! I have the same car in Guards Red and I have the same options and wheels. It is my silver twin! The car definitely needs the PSE, I never drive the car with it off. I hope you enjoy the car as much as I do :)

What is a good website to upload pics with? I will upload one :)

Awesome :D

Very much interested in the PSE... but have also found a couple of others that interest me...

The DesignTek sounds quite good & they do a valvetronic version which either has its own button unique or integrates with the sport/sport plus buttons so that I can have calm/loud if I want it... plus it's a rear-cat-delete, so is claimed to add 10-15bhp at the wheels.

The Remus sounds the nicest from youtube... but you can't really tell til you hear it in person. Always-on type exhaust... but I can't quite see myself wanting to run the car in quiet mode all that often.

Then there's this... this is just naughty... and I'm sure I would deserve a slap for doing something so nasty to such a wonderful NA engine:

I use Imgur, can upload straight from phone, works a treat.

I like flickr... but imgur is good too :)

Here are 3 pictures of the car I have on my computer. My car also has Adaptive Sport Seats, PASM, LSD, PSE, along with all the other options that your car has. I love your car in Silver, it looks fantastic.

Awesome :) I was almost going for a red model myself :D

Not yet... maybe in 6-24 months when I get more used to it hehe... stumbled on to that link when searching for an exhaust and it got me drooling. But then if I ever did consider it ... I might as well wait for the exhaust with that kit & throw the idea of any form of warranty out of the window... lol

Must keep telling myself I shouldn't do it... what has been seen cannot be un-seen :D

The 987.2 Boxster is really reliable, the only thing that worries me is the PDK gearbox. Mine has had a few odd moments.. Sometimes when I accelerate the revs will go all the way up as if its in neutral, there is no change in speed. This is a brown pants moment when entering a roundabout with a short gap! I've told Porsche about it but because its such an intermittent problem there isn't a lot they can do. It hasn't happened in a while though thankfully!

Apart from that I don't think there is much to worry about, I personally wouldn't have the car without a warranty though. I've had mine for 2 years now and nothing has gone wrong with it. I bought it at 15000 (ish) miles and now its on 28000(ish).

I can't see myself changing car for a long time :)

That sounds a bit odd, but I've noticed something vaguely similar myself... however I figured out what it was pretty quickly. It's done that type of thing to me when I start going for it and then back off pretty quickly. The PDK box tries to guess which way you're going to change gear... if you start of sharpish, it's selected the gear up and it's ready to engage... but when you lift while the revs may still be a little low, it dis-engages and selects the lower gear... while allowing the engine to rev before it grabs it, rather than forcing the engine to try and match that other gear, resulting in a jerky ride... I've actually played with it once or twice since I realised this and blipped it under an overpass without it being in neutral.

Hopefully the same thing... I don't fancy changing cars in a hurry :D

That turbo kit looks meaty, go for it I say :D

It really does & it's such low peak boost (4.5psi)... it doesn't seem to be pushing the ending too far.

Considering the PSE is 2.2-2.4k ish and that kit is about 6k... hmmm... don't tempt me too much... I might just do it

Not sure whatever possesses someone to purchase a car in silver, looks horrible compared to pretty much any other colour, so bland and boring.

Someone who is more interested in mechanical performance, reliability, other options and general condition than colour choice.

If I was building my own... I'd have grabbed it in yellow. I almost went for a red one, but this one was better. The blue's quite nice... but I have a thing for that Porsche yellow.

I think it would look worse in black than this silver.

The finish on the silver is actually quite a bit better than it looks in the pictures, it has this almost pearlescent effect to it that adds a nice dreaminess to the reflections, especially coloured lights/sky. It's somehow different and that little bit nicer than a normal silver... dunno what they've done.

Looking at the configurator... it's about a third of the way down the list of the colours I'd choose myself.

But on my list of options... the colour of the paint and the style of the wheels was very low on my list of things to make my mind up on... even iPod integration was more important (and that wasn't exactly high on the list ;) )

There were only two colours I really didn't want... both interior... the skin coloured leather is too good at reminding me that it is actually, skin... and the red-everything interior would have me feeling like I'm sitting inside something's mouth ;)

Horrible, really? Yes its a common colour but you cant honestly believe that its horrible?

Every one else here seems to agree that its a lovely car.

But yeah... despite it not being my absolute favourite colour... I think the car looks great :D

That's ok. I think your tie is ugly.

lol

Howcome there's so little camber on the front? It noticeably looks weird and with a strut suspension it must roll into positive almost immediately and result in a strong understeer?

it's done to Porsche base spec rather than any special setup for me... I do tend to prefer things a bit more tail-happy... but this isn't driving as you say, I wouldn't be happy with that.

There's a mild understeer on first turn in as the weight is shifting and then it sits straight in the middle, pushing quite quickly through into oversteer under enough power or staying balanced.

Good choice. I like these a lot. I Still miss my Boxster S sometimes, it was just so perfectly balanced and a great drive.

Personally silver isn't my thing but other than that it's spot on. :)

What are you driving now?

Some good light this evening... so went to grab some better pics and a couple of interior piccies too :)

Bought more car cleaning bits today than I've ever owned

Superb shots, she looks great! Nicely done. :)

Thank you :D

Noticed today... and I haven't been sliding around much at all really... or driving like a complete nutter.

I have a feeling she was sitting around not doing much for a little while... maybe 6-9 months... the rear tyres have gone from 4mm to 2mm incredibly quickly... lol

The fronts haven't scrubbed quite that much... they do look like fresh rubber now though.

(unless I was being a bit of a twit in my measurement technique)

Some video from the ride towards Stelvio pass, unfortunately the camera filled up and instead of looping like it was supposed to, stopped recording just before we got to Stelvio pass... so no vids from there, just the couple of pictures I've already posted.

I think the pass I have video though, is actually a nicer drive than Stelvio Pass... as Stelvio is mostly U-turn climbing/descending and this one has more fun flowing turns with some more open switch-backs.

Is that a pizza box on the boot?:p

Car looks lovely:cool:

Thanks & hehe... yes it is, didn't even notice I'd left it there until after I'd taken the pics and the light was fading really quickly.

Picked up a pizza from a little Italian pizzeria at the bottom of the mountain and drove quickly to the top to eat it... yes... it was still nicely warm when we got to the top (or quite close to the top in those pictures as it was a good stop/photo/munch point).

looks good - i'd have a hard time not calling it "Ben Huuuur" from the plate :D

Loved driving those roads in a clapped out mk2 scirocco, would love to do them in something more interesting :)

That's the first named I've liked so far... we might have a contender :D The only thing being... she's a girl and I'm not used to calling girls Ben :p

Awesome roads!

I managed to cook the brakes on the way down the mountain just after the videos I've posted... lol... nearly managed to set the rears alight.
