well... got to be honest.. well chuffed with it :)

will do some pics tomorrow if I can, and try to do a video with some nice sound so you can hear the noise

my only concern.. they have replaced 3 of the tyres for brand new pirelli p6000's.. but left the rear left 'Goodyear Eagle Tourer' on there.. do I need to get this changed? or is it safe?

I'd change it mate, i've had funny things happen with odd tyres on the same axel, looking forward to the pics ;)

seeing as you seem to have been pretty dam positive about the car, if your at the next RR day, feel free to come for a spin ;)

You've bought a Puma? What have I missed?

Hope it's a FRP...

do you not read threads :p

I crashed the focus last week dodging a golf GTi that prefered my side of the road to his.. (he proceeded to drive off, and the police cant trace the partial plate : / ) so I needed to either repair the car (and got quoted over 1k, which on a car I was considering changing I couldnt justify) so I took it to ford, saw a puma, took it out for a spin and loved it... cant afford a massively pro performance car as im wanting to move out, so ive gone for this in the interim... get me used to petrols anyway ;)

just a 1.7 VCT sadly merlin, not a racing one.. but getting extra power is cheap ish, so it might be pushing a bit more power soon :)

i thought you were looking at things like s2k's and ctr's?

:o

still, pumas are a nice shape imo, the 1.7s are meant to be quite good arent they?

I was indeed... and then I realised I wanted to leave home :p

basically, Id prefer to get a nice house and an ok sporty ish car... than just a sporty car...

Nice car you got. :D I wouldnt worry, its not like the 1.7 is that slow. Out of interest what engine did your Focus have?

1.8 TDCi...

the 1.7 is quite nice, but 1st gear is a bit  .. it just takes too long to get going !

Post some pics and keep us updated with what you do to it.

Tuning N/A is my speciality now, it's an expensive game I tell ya. :p Pick your mods carefully. Also when looking at things like exhaust systems - find out how much the OE systems weigh and ask how much the aftermarket systems weigh - with N/A you need bhp increases and weight saving all at the same time.

I made weight savings on everything I bought, even down to wheel nuts and alloy strut braces. Next thing is to change the battery....little things start to make quite a difference.

Best of luck, spend wisely.

Interesting points you've made there mate ... never even considering asking about the weight. I guess also with my car being quite light as standard, every kilo I can loose the better !

When it comes to things like transmission changes (clutches and flywheels) is the best option there to get these lightened ones... simon tried to explain all that unsprung mass stuff to me, but I didnt really understand !

Hi Mate

Congratulations on the Puma, ive never driven a standard 1.7 but i cant see it being much less fun than myn ( AND I LOVE MYN :D )

Pumas are very expensive if your trying to get any power out of them. A turbo kit will give you around 149 bhp but the money trying to do it runs into £1000s and £1000s. If you want more power then the best option is getting hold of a Racing Puma engine which is 155 BHP standard. Will be the same price + fitting of the turbo conversion but is far less likley to go bang. ( but tbh once you have spent money doing the engine you might as well have bought a FRP hehe

I would also suggest getting your polybushes done, they allways make a big diffrence :)

www.pumapeople.com is the way to go :)

hmm... from what I thought the engine was about 125 bhp stock, with puma builds stage 3 (replacement panel filter, exhaust, manifold, cams and rechip) giving about 25-30 bhp... which puts me up at near RFP power levels... however a guy at work is currently pricing up a throttlebody setup/supercharger for me.. but that might have to wait till I've paid the car off

I wouldent think so mate but im happy to be proved wrong ;)

Throttle bodys are the way to go gareth BUT the expensive is quite alarming ;)

Sam

hehe...

out of interest, ive got to take the car back to the garage about the seats and a clunking noise coming from the front left (this came up on the RAC report, guess they didnt fix it, no big deal)

should I mention about th odd rear left tyre? thats the only tyre they didnt swap for a P6000... thought I might mention it .. see if they give me another new one :D
