Well on wedenesday im going down to portsmouth to pick up my new PC, its gonna be an 8800gts, 2gb 667 ddr2 ram, E6400 etc, overall pretty good.

Anybody got any reccomendations on a game that can show off what the GTS can do, i wasa thinking Comapany of Heroes, or perhaps BF2142.

Any suggestions?

2142 for online play...FEAR for single play. Download some of the NVidia 8800 demos' they are cool.

Quake 4 and DOOM 3 etc. with full AA and AF are certainly nice!

Company of Heroes is a definate, its the best rts ive played since Dune and theres a DX10 patch in the pipeline
BF2142 is also a must have and will show off your spanky new gfx card in full

Another vote for Company of Heroes. Also perhaps try:

GTR2,
Call of Duty 2 (bit older but still good)
F.E.A.R
BF2142 (never played it myself but looks good)
Oblivion?

For a massive rig like that, I can only think of one game to push it's limits... Frogger (DX10/64 bit version).

That'll put lead in ya pencil!

I should imagine so. I can't quite imagine CoH pushing your system to the max though. It'll certainly give you plenty of hours of entertainment though.

Does CoH deviate far from traditional RTS territory? I do love RTSs but I don't like when they try and be action games and the like.

It's bascially, build a base, hold territory (more territory = greater resources) and destroy the enemy. Certainly very RTS indeed.

World of Warcraft?

My girlfriends 5 year old HP runs WOW. My mothers 4 year old (totally non-gaming) budget work-rig runs WOW even better.

My 3 year old gaming rig ran WOW fine when it was released.

I suggest something else. Just grab loads of latest demos. Games, nvidia etc.
