Had a nice lunch, bought a chicken burger and a camera lens. Obviously the latter is not to be eaten :p

Nice, what camera you bolting it on?

Thanks to all for the interesting submissions and actual images!

It's going on my 40D, that thing has been a workhorse and a half I tell you!

Very nice (Castiel). How much did it set you back, and how long until you breakeven?

12k for a 4kWp system and I expect to break-even in around 8-10 years. It should more than double my investment over the guaranteed period of 25 years.

Far better return than leaving the cash sat in the bank and given the consistent upward movement in energy prices I wouldn't be surprised if we exceed the break even period by a couple of years.

Ah, a worthy investment then, certainly better than leaving it in the bank as you say.

I'd just be worried about it not receiving a good amount of light throughout the year, especially in my area where it seems to be dark and rainy most of the time.

Castiel how much usable energy do you get from those panels and how much battery storage do you have?

I am not quite sure what 4kWp means.

4kWp means it will produce 4kWh at its peak or nominal efficiency. In practice it means, given my location and other variables it will conservatively produce around 3600kwh a year. The quoted guaranteed minimum is 4066kwh a year, but I am always suspicious of quoted minimums even if they have a guarantee.

It doesn't need battery storage as excess electricity is sold back onto the grid directly. Batteries would be impractical and expensive.

I am averaging around 24kwh a day production at the moment.
