Hmm, I'm interested in getting this for the 'father-in-law' (not quite in law, but we're engaged so y'know) for xmas...

Anyway... He tends to sharpen most of the knives around the house, but gf/gf's mother always complains that he doesn't sharpen them properly... so they end up really thick but with sharp blades... Does this maintain the thickness of the blade?

Those Anysharps are ok but they will destroy your knives eventually (yes, I have one). They grind away a fair bit of the blade each time you use it.

I much prefer to use a steel, it takes a few attempts to learn how to use it but works better. I use a Kyocera ceramic one which cost me £20.

Bog standard really, 2.4 i7, glossy screen. I'm figuring if something goes ****-up on this I can take it into the store and have them swap it out straight away rather than if I had a BTO one.

Strange thinking but never mind. :p Just need to up the RAM on this bad boy!

If anyone else is looking for these, a few people including myself have had trouble finding the colours they want. You need to buy the tabletop and the legs separately to get this, and many other colour combinations, so I bought one 150 cm Birch tabletop:

And make sure you go to the store first to check the colours, I initially ordered the oak one online, but when I saw it instore I was dissapointed with its ugliness (looked nothing like the online picture at all).

The tabletops are available in 100cm, 120cm, 150cm, and 200cm widths with various tyes of legs (I wouldnt recommend a pair of storage legs on anything smaller than the 150 cm, there wont be enough space left in the middle).

I'm after a new desk at the moment and I'm pretty sure this option is going to be it (in black and red though). Just wondering though what the stand is you have inbetween the two storage legs. Would be useful for storing my xbox and other items in. :)

Just realised this was guitarmans desk. Either way though would still like to know where he got the shelfing from, fits perfectly underneath.

Theses have got Ferrodo DS2500 pads which still have about 8 mm of material left on them, I'll see what they're like when I get them on. The brakes won't fit under my wheels so I've have had to buy new 19 inch wheels today, which I'll post a picture of when they arrive :)
