Pics of stuff we bought in November!

The Wife?

I thought iPads and iPhones were designed to be just understood and work out of the box?

They come with zero instructions you turn it on you get a image of a USB cable pointing to the text iTunes thats it. Her moble phone is 6 years old it's not a smart phone so this is the first bit of touch screen tec she has used.

PC wise she only knows how to turn one on & press the Internet Explorer button.

I should have now better to have posted such a shameful image on this forum

The postman delivered this today.
Thought it was going to be a small thin book so much for making it simple.
It's for the wife she said you got to be joking.

This....

I hope your wife thinks you were joking when you got her a book to explain how to use an iPad you must be dummer than her

Come on, seriously? Whats to understand?

I apologise if I've offended you, but as above, they're supposed to be pretty much self explanatory!

The only thing that's offending me is that you just presume someone knows & understand things.

First time I got a PC 20 years ago I did not have a clue how or what windows was or how to work it.

But then it's my fault for posting this on this forum where we are all high tec pros & don't understand that someone could possable so dumb as not to understand about computers.

Sorry but I just didn't get it that's all. I've not known anyone (young and old) to not be able to pick up an iPhone (and by relation, iPad) and have difficulty in figuring out how to do something. That's the whole point of them being created in the first place no?

These things are far easier to use and understand compared to a Windows or Android tabelt/phone after all!

You know your wife better than anyone else here but RTFMing isn't what 99% women I know like to do :p

It wasn't that really, I can understand perfectly that someone wouldn't necessarily be able to do understand how to use an iPad having never seen it before. But surely you'd be better off just spending 15-20 minutes with her running through it, after that its all quite straight forward?

What offends me is that you would pay circa £400 for a piece of technology that is supposed to be of the simplest nature, for your wife who is "unable" to use it....

Waste of money in my eyes. But hey ho your money your rules

I thought the book was about coding, and making apps for the iPad and what not. Is it just a, do this to watch a film, do this to play a game, do this to find a computer shop that will sell you a flash enabled tablet so you can browse the internet fully?

OH NO I DIDN'T!!!

Didn't you hear? Mobile Flash is dead. Apple killed it.

You are presuming I bought it.
I did not buy it my parents bought it for her, she did not ask for or want one, they just came to vist 2 weeks ago & handed it to her.

You get easy offended sorry it was for nothing.

& this is a key word here 'supposed to of the simplest nature'

I have never used one before nor do I wish to, the iPad as far as I understand can do lots of things how would I know what these things are?
I have shown her the basics.
One thing that I had to google is how to move a popup window scroll bar up & down.

I'm confused why the book is so thick!

Because it's not as simply as posters think it is?
Maybe it shows you everything that the iPad can do so going by the thicknes that could be a lot of things. It would be a shame not to use it fully.

Before I forget, I wanted a new wallet as my old one couldn't fit anything bigger than £10 in it without creasing, and a new briefcase as my old Dell bag was making me feel a bit of a spaz. Aspinal provided!

Briefcase, mainly to carry my laptop and some bits around for work, nice bright red suede interior!

Matching colour wallet, but with snakeskin lining on the face and what seems to be red suede where the notes are kept
