So basically if you want the absolute top tier of equipment sure it'll cost £5,000, but the sort of equipment 90% of the populace who are paying £600 a year to go to the gym for can be had for the tiniest fraction of that. Saying you need £5k to do some decent exercise at home is a bit like saying that to drive anywhere you must have a Lamborghini Diablo.
top tier of equipment would cost you well over £20K for weights and cardio.
im talking the bare minimum for a decent weights setup is £1.5K.
i have spent over £200 just on matting and i need more.
you cannot do anything worth doing tbh with a cheap crappy setup of 20kg which consists of 2 dumbells and a curl bar.
you would be better off not spending any money and doing body weight exercises.
cardio equipment is extremely expensive, even for basic stuff, im not talking the crap you get in argos.
do you think i would have spent over £3K in equipment if a £40 set from argos would be sufficient?
a bit like a wedding photographer turning up with a polaroid or a smartphone to take your pictures, the right equipment to do the job properly is extremely expensive.
for all you bicep monkey which do not have a clue, sure a £40 set from argos is brilliant, but if your actually serious about lifting, your looking at £1.5K minimum imo.
dumbells are one of the most expensive things to buy, i strongly suggest people buy ironmasters, which are roughly £500+ but still cheaper than shelling out £2k+ for full set of fixed dumbells.
you cannot do bench or squat safely and push yourself, with an argos setup.
