Picture batch processing recommendations

Hi guys and gals

I need some software for converting Tiffs to Jpegs and I have thousands of images to convert and I also what to loose as little quality as possible. Any recommendations?

photoshop has a batch image processor, can resize and save as your preffered filetype

from CS2 onwards iirc

Irfanview is totally free, has an excellent batch editor, and i'm pretty sure supports tiffs (supports just about everything else). Check it out, really handy, and much quicker than PS, for crops and conversions

Does anybody in here use Gimp?

A mate of mine was telling me about it a little while ago, as a sort of freeware Photoshop app.

If anybody does use it, can they confirm/deny that it does batch jobs too?

If it does, I may well give it a try.
