Ah, the Cheytac Intervention M200. a rifle after my own heart

the .408 Cheytac is one hell of a rifle round.

Beautiful round to shoot with in the cheytach, stays supersonic out to 2000 yards, unlike .50 wich drops off at 1800 or so, smaller round but still packs a punch.

Its in the film shooter, mark wahlberg uses it to shoot a soup can at long range. Just bought the film on blu ray today, absolutely brilliant.

Sadly it was proved in northern ireland that the latest body armour couldnt cope with a .50 round, the sniper shootings were credited to an ex navy seal/us marine core scout sniper on hire, due to media hype, eventually when they found the weapon and the guy that was doing the shooting, his longest range shot was 300 yards, no modern body armour will stop a .50 at that range.

This article mentions the use of .50 sniper rifles in the south armagh area of northern ireland.
