pimp your ford thread

Told you was prob the coil/ht leads. GJ.

The coil/ht's were changed as a precaution, i had it checked and it tested ok but was changed anyway as i was pushing to get it fixed once and for all, the biggest and most costly thing was the unit that was changed, good job i didnt have to pay for it, just glad its sorted now and no more trips to Bristol :)

My Mondeo had a misfire last month, well actually it was only running on 3 cylinders. That turned out to be the coil. As I'm a hardcore DIY pro, I nipped right down to the local breakers, paid more than new price for a second hand one and fitted it myself whilst almost losing a screwdriver.

Had to replace mine aswell after the car decided to take me home in limp home mode which isn't fun. They tend to crack easily on the Focus.

It does seem to be a common fault, well here is hoping that we have trouble free motoring from now on :D

Should do. I may buy an ST170 soon but the ridiculous insurance keeps putting me off

They're rather cheap now as well.

My insurance is cheap enough now i have passed the big 30 and got no points :D

Depends what you class as cheap really, i paid 7k for mine (i wouldnt call that cheap myself) but thats because it only had 33k on the clock with FSH etc, you can pick up much cheaper but the lower the price seems to indicate bigger millage, no FSH and a heap of trouble down the road, which i didnt want.

The prices have dropped recently you can pick a decent example for under 6k now if you look about.

You don't even have to look hard

Oh wow 33k over 53k it's hardly night and day, both are pretty low for the ages. Also the 53k is a year younger!

A saving of erm 1.5k with the slightly higher miler

I know which I'd of gone for ;)

This was just the odd one picked off ebay after 30 second search.

I've learnt my lesson for hunting for low milers. Most have been dragged around town a lot of their life. Cars are meant to be driven hence why my next one will have some decent mileage on :)

As said I would but the insurers want about 3k off me to insure one. So when im 20 next year I may look at one then.

Think someone needs to grow-up, this is not a thread about my car and you nit-picking how much you seem to think its worth......Im happy with it and thats all that matters.

Maybe instead of finding fault or trying to get one-up (this isnt a playground), you should think about your own car, with the mods you have paid out on you could have picked up a realllly cheap st170

I really like the interior of tom's car, but what the hell is that near the dashboard? a ghostbusters sticker ? :p

that sticker is no longer there, infact i removed it about 10 minutes after resizing that photo for web as i realised how cack it looked :p it was one warning you not to put a child seat on the front seat.

Your car looks awesome! How much did it cost you and how old were you when you got it?

I bought the car with a lot of work needing doing to it for £1450, and have since spent about £800-1000 sprucing it up (lots beneath the surface too, new shocks springs brakes manifolds throttle bodies exhaust etc)

I bought it when i was 18.

Tom.
