I am at a loss and frankly it is boiling my ****!

A speed test on my internet connection which is consistent and more than healthy enough to game with.

A server list (it's bad today) but 27 PING rates more than good enough to game

So if I select say a 27 PING server why does this happen EVERY TIME I enter ANY game??

BF1/BF4 ALL the same

I have a mega PC more than up to the game
I am connected to the router via a cable which is 1 meter long and has been replaced MANY times
I have checked that nothing else is running (Netflix/Prime/Apple TV etc) when I seek to game

This happens without fail within 5 minutes of trying to play any of these games online, any time of day. I am at a loss how to fix this and it seems so is the entire internets.

Help me Obi Clocks you are my only hopes :(

Check what MTU you are using versus what the ISP supports - if its way out it can cause issues with gaming and lag.

EDIT: Just in case it might be worth getting these stats - some people have things like auto receive window tuning settings that can seriously screw up gaming:

Open commandprompt as admin and enter this: netsh interface tcp set heuristics disabled

Hit enter.

After doing that, enter this: netsh interface tcp show global

Copy the output from that command on this topic so I can see it.

Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level being one of the more interesting ones to check.

Also might be worth trying with Windows firewall disabled :s to rule out something like that and likewise any 3rd party firewall or AV (though if you are directly connected without NAT or something sitting in between that isn't a great idea).

Doesn't look like anything amiss there.

Are you using the Network interface onboard your motherboard?

A cheap 'test' would be to get a PCI-E network adapter and bung it in your PC, and see if you get the same problem or not.

Whatever it is, it's obviously system-wide.

My motherboard has both wired and wireless being an ASUS ROG Extreme V. I have latest BIOS enabled and normal network traffic is fine, zero issues and no issues with anything internet bar these games.

I have never really been a pc user who suffers issues. For decades my stuff just works, games never seemed to crash, never had network issues, it has been a pianless experience as I keep a clean PC and keep it updated with good bits. This is my first ever 'one of those issues' really that I see everyone else have :(

No issues with Counter Strike it would seem

Wondering if some kind of firewall settings or similar are causing problems with BF4, etc. they can use some odd connections and/or traffic cycling that can trip DOS protection on a router, etc.

I turned off Firewall, issues still there :(

I tell you, it's an odd one this, hence the post

I have seen the same old same old over and over

- Drivers
- Firewalls
- Virus
- Malware
- ISP
- Fault this and that
- You're doing it wrong
- Router

etc etc etc

But all of that I have checked, first ports of call but this one is odd :(

Appreciate everyone taking the time mind

I had a similar issue years ago; would get massive packet loss & high ping only in Cod4 - turns out one of Plusnets gateway providers had incorrectly mis-prioritised traffic for the ports which most Cod4 servers used

I've seen a fair number of people complaining about high ping on the BF subreddit over the last few weeks - have you tried connecting to a US server out of interest? Even though the baseline ping will be higher, it might narrow things down a bit.
