Ping Problems

Hiya :)

Well I just randomly started getting very high jumpy pings over the last week or so :( . I tried a different modem to make sure my router aint broken but it does the same and I tryed a different game but it's the same too. My general surfing doesn't seem to be effected as far as I've noticed and my PC is clean.

Any ideas? I'm with btyahoo on 2mb (think it's option 4)

Would rather try everything before even attempting the mission that is getting help from BT :p

Oh forgot to mention with my ping, if I join a server where I should ping around 30 I end up pinging about 45 but when I join a server where I should ping 150 I ping about 230 or more :mad:
 
If you have a few PC's using the same connection it might be somone els using the line at the same time as you. If not, have you installed any new software that uses an internet connection?

If none of these, BT may be upgrading your exchange or somthing. When BT was upgrading my exchange I kept getting line drops every few hours for about 2 months :p
 
Thanks for the reply nacht I do have another computer on the same connection as this one, but there is no activity on it while I am trying to play.

I just connected another PC to the connection and turned all the others off and installed one of my games to see if it was just my PC that was to blame but it seems that one gets the lag too.

So so far I'm sure it isn't my PC or my router, just leaves my connection to be tested.

I'll do a speed test in a bit :)
