Hi,

not really sure if this comes as a medical thread or not if it does please close just....

I have started running about 3 weeks ago and recently I have been getting a weird sensation in my right foot. It normally starts with my calf (spelling?) feeling quite tight and after a while it feels like the circulation is going in my foot as it starts to feel a bit heavy (such as the feeling before you get pins and needles)

I don't run great distances about 3/4miles twice a week and I play football for an hour 2/3 times a week as well. I don't really have my shoes tied any tighter than I normally would and it hasn't really been causing me too much discomfort except for football tonight where I had to stop after about 45minutes.

Thanks for any advice.

:)

Have you been to see a chiropractor or however you spell it ? I had a similar problem but with my arm and apparently one of my ribs was out which moved some muscle which was joined to my arm etc etc, wierd solution but no problem anymore

I never get actual pins and needles just the heavy feeling around my foot. I lost a little feeling in my foot but it shortly came back after stopping. I'm going to take it easy the next few days and possibly not tighten that lace up as much.

Just I've not ever had this feeling before and I used to play a lot more football over the course of the week so am guessing it is just my body telling me to calm it down a bit.

EDIT:// not seen a chiropractor yet as I've only had it twice so far, just thought i'd ask some of you running boffs first in case its a common ailment. :)

I had pins and needles in my foot for 5 months after getting a compressed nerve from doing up snowboard bindings too tight. Bizarrely, it felt wrong when the feeling started coming back.

Best thing I can suggest is to go and speak to a qualified person, i.e. a doctor. I';m sure the guys here can be lots of help but I'd stick to professional opinions just in case. :)
