Am expecting Scuzi amongst others to have some opinion on this...

OK so I have a job interview on Monday.

I also have one wide-pinstripe ladies' trouser-suit that I bought back in 2002 for about £120, which only now am I starting to fit back into.

It's a MASSIVE confidence boost for me to be able to get back into it and will make me feel great for the interview. However, the trousers are still a bit tight around the upper thighs, which deforms the pinstripe slightly, and to me is fairly obvious if I remove the jacket.

So what's worse people, wearing gently wavy pinstripe trousers, or plain black trousers with a pinstripe jacket?

Not likely remove it, but probably unbutton it to sit down.

I don't have any other nice suits - only black pairs of trousers and a black jacket but they're a bit old and have really lost their sharpness (the jacket I wore through most of 6th form)!

Ooh Huddy, appreciated your interview guide that I was linked to, cheers :)

Would need pics to be honest :)

But there's nothing wrong with wearing a pinstripe jacket with black trousers... better if the blacks are very close shades...otherwise it doesn't really matter.

If you feel good in the suit... wear that - just don't take off the jacket ;)

I would say personally to an interview I would wear something that I am comfortable in, as if I'm comfortable I normally come over more confident :)

I think the full suit would be best from what you've described.

Tightness is good on girls, too! Or at least I think so. :o :p

At the end of the day, if the suit makes you feel better during the interview, it means you'll give a much more confident impression and you'll feel more relaxed. That's all that matters. :)

i think you should wear it. if your not likley to take it off then it doesnt matter. and if you do its only to sit down for a while. and they shouldnt be looking down tehre lol

:p ;)

i'd say go with pinstripe even if its lil tight looks better than mix and match just keep jacket on imo. aslong as you feel confident and come across confident doubt they won't even notice.;)

Hit the gym and leaving the choccys alone til monday and you'll be fine :p

Just keep the jacket on, with the ways jackets sit I seriously doubt they'll notice unless they are checking out your thighs :p

Good luck with the interview! what job is it for? :)

Pinstripes you say? ^^

Dear oh dear...

I don't eat much choc anyway as my body makes me suffer when I do! Got caught out yesterday after someone in the office had a birthday and left cakes by the door out to the loos and coffee-making facilities. Doh.

Well it's a job with a big IC-design firm (into telecomms, automotive, AV, allsorts), and there are two jobs they want to interview me for, one in interface board design (connecting up these ICs to the outside world/inside products/as demo pieces), and the other as technical author (datasheets, manuals, apps notes, but also web and CD-ROM authoring).

So it'll be a 3-or-so-hour interview in 3 parts (HR, then board design, then tech auth) - wowzers.

A deformed pinstripe is usually a big no-no but only if it is glaringly obvious. How much of a distortion is it, how far down does it go and where abouts?

Don't wear a pinstripe jacket with plain trousers, it looks patchy.

Are you wearing braces? :D

If the suit makes you feel more confident then wear it, if there are any men present it will probably just make them appreciate you some more ;)
