hi guys

ive been mixing with my cheapo 2 channel mixer and traktor for a few months now and love it  i'm not *too* bad and its something i want to keep doing so was considering buying some second-hand CDJs after christmas

budget is £500 max (depends entirely on what i get for xmas really), i dont want vinyl because ive got thousands of tracks on CD and mp3 and cant afford to buy them again on vinyl :)

looked at the CDJ100 (dont think i'll get some 1000's in my budget :p) but already decided against them because they dont support looping, so was looking at the 200's

can anyone on here with CDJs (especially the cheaper ones), give me some advice?

im into trance mainly and used to having loops and effects like flange etc so would like these too :)

TIA :)

My mate had/has a set of 200's thats what he told me
to get, but im stubborn and still don't want to change!

;)

I have 1000s - best things I ever bought (cept for maybe the DJM 800 that followed lol)

But I have used 100s, 200s and 800s in clubs and although I dislike them all. The 200 has +/-6 pitch range which is ideal for trance mixes. I always use +/-6 on the CDJ1000. But the 200 same with the 800 just seem to fluctuate pitch all the time. Especially apparent in the early 800mk2 models.

IMO - save, save and save and get the 1000s :)

how much is a second-hand pair of 1000s gonna cost?

my mixer is only a cheap £25 2 channel one - so if i got some 1000's surely they'd be wasted with it and need an expensive mixer?

mmm, less that i expected i spose - but still a hell of a lot of money (18, part time job etc) :(

are the 1000s really worth the extra? i've seen them in clubs and drooled over then but never thought i'd be able to afford a pair :(

Several of my friends who had purchased 2 CDJ 800s regretted their decision to save up for 1 more month to buy the CDJ 1000s. They soon ended up selling the 800s and getting the 1000s or at least selling 1 800 to get a 1000.

Ive got a denon dns3000 that i never really used, its as good as a cdj800 and im thinking of letting it go if you are interested. But i want around 350 for it. Has a lot more features than the pioneers at that level.

However cdj1000s are the daddy

I like the look of the denons. Better price and loads of features!

Yeah, if you are only a bedroom dj without the need for pioneer practice they are ideal. Mine has more features than the cdj800. Plays mp3s etc too. Scratches, loops etc etc

hedge - the denon doesnt look too bad actually, why have you only got 1 if you dont mind me asking? i may be interested in it nearer xmas :)

It was bought when i had the intention of going CDs. At that point i had vinyl turntables too.. so i was gonna buy 1 first.. then another soon later... instead i bought one... sold my decks... then wasted the cash on other things :(

my denon has literally had Zero use other than odd tracks once or twice when i had my vestax :(

It cost 440 quid. Its in 100% mint condition. Just kinda wish id bought a second when i had the money :(

ive just watched a demo of a denon dns1000 and it can to effects controlled by the jog wheel like high, med, low pass, flange etc can the CDJ1000 do this?

:D

Their reputation, and the fact that most clubs use them,
so club djs will want the same at home etc.

I've got a few friends with CDJ800 MKII's and none of them have had any issues with them. For the house they are great and so much cheaper than the 1000's. If you can afford 100's then definately get them, but don't disregard the 800 MK II's. I'd try and stay away from the Denon if I was you, especially if you plan on playing out/at a club in the future, as the Pioneers are industry standard.
