Next week?

Ordered my regrade via Nildrams's website on the 31st march......

Superb service @ Nildram :)

yeah they seem to be running about a week behind all the other ISP`s

thats why i was looking to get my MAC code :p

did they also tell you that when you regrade, you are locked into another 12months contract. i don't know about you but i'm none too happy with that.....

i just tried going into my pipex account to have a look at this but i keep getting redirected back to the login screen. I know the details are correct, just cant actually get access to the account.

Anyone else having this problem?

Who do you mean? Nildram have always had a monthly contract. I assume you mean pipex?

Yup, I can't get in either, same problem as you.

I've got question no point making a new thread about it.

I've heard of some people getting throttled on newsgroups and things, will this come into effect for everyone on the max packages, and if so only at peak hours?

I'm currently not getting throttled at all while I've been with them, but I only really download at off peak hours.

it was the same when i regraded to 2mb.Pipex have always been 12 month contracts so it makes no difference to me

as i didn't quote your post, nor was it directly below yours, perhaps i was replying to the thread starter who used the word PIPEX in the thread title..... ;)

fairy nuff. but if you're on 2meg solo like me, i'm already paying top whack and i don't think i should be locked in for another 12 months just to get max. i think 34/mo is too much for what it is when you look at the competition around.

they've also been introducing traffic shaping on some realms for p2p traffic more specifically bit torrent. speeds have been cut to 20kb/s at all times regardless of your downloading behaviour. i'd rather they introduce caps, peak times or boot the abusers. why should everyone be penalised on an ever increasing legitimate way of getting hold of files. again this might not concern you but it does me.... :)

as luck would have it im out of my 12 months as of now :D

so i have the choice of staying with Pipex of jumping ship so im going to wait to see what restrictions are going to be and the prices.

restrictions are now in place on xtreme5. i've tested this by downloading kubuntu and openoffice torrents. 22kb/s max. enabling encryption in utorrent and speeds are flying. i'm not stupid enough to think pipex will let this go un-noticed for long. i'm offski.....

i much rather be on a capped service with no traffic shaping. even 20gb/mo would be enough for me these days..... :p

edit: someone on pipex max over at adslguide is also restricted to 20/kbs. he can get 750kb/s according to the speed test in his sig.....

im calling pipex for my MAC code now :p

ive got a short list of new ISP

NDO
Nildram

NDO is a pound more a month but im happy to pay that for no traffic shaping and no download restrictions

I'm in the process of migrating to Nildram now. I've been waiting for the last 2 weeks for Pipex to confirm that it's going ahead. Pipex are crap now and £34 a month for the 2MB line is a rip off. Port throttling is a pain in the ass as well.

Marc2003 - How did you enable encryption in utorrent? :D Sounds good.

moving from pipex to a pipex owned isp... :D

you need version 1.5 of utorrnet. look under options>preferences>network>protocol encryption

of course isps won't let people get away with this for long. it'll get to the point where any unrecognised traffic will be shaped....

Ahh that's why I couldn't find anything, I had 1.3 :p Pipex may own Nildram but the price is better and they don't use port throttling. I can live with a bandwidth limit during peak hrs (50GB is quite a lot and I'd never use that), but Pipex take the biscuit by capping bittorrent ports during peak hrs and disconnecting me every few minutes. Cheers for the info. :)

Pipex owned yes, but just look how they handled the regrades - they are still a seperate entity in that respect.

well that wasnt to hard should have my MAC code in 3 working days then its off to...................................

where are the regrade options then? If i go to change service theres only the 1mb and 2mb packages as usual. Searching for regrade or max dsl on the site shows nothing either.
