Hi all

Merry Christmas for tomorrow :)

Weird situ, haven’t experience this before.

Have a Pixel 8 which I used for work. It was signed into my work account as the main account.

I recently left the company and my account has been deactivated. This has, in turn, reset the phone.

Great, I thought - I can just sign in with my personal account.

Wrong. It’s asking me to sign into the original account to unlock it. The problem is that this is impossible. I no longer work for the company and there’s not a chance they’re going to let me sign into that account again.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I contact Google?

Thanks!

As far as I know there's nothing you can do if you can't access that login.

Contacting Google and explaining your situation seems the only hope.

Is it your phone or works? I doubt Google will help surely this is no different than what would happen if someone stole a phone and you removed the account remotely. Your not supposed to just be able to sign in with a different account.

If it is your phone, your account should be the primary account.

I can’t remember exactly the wording, but it’s asking me to sign into the work account essentially. Since it was a work phone (as in, a phone used exclusively for work) I only had that account on it, otherwise Google ends up using it for blinking 2FA if I’m signed into my personal gmail.

Only way I know is to sign back into the work account then remove it via the phone.

I had this problem with somebody's old Samsung phone that they somehow managed to reset, before removing their Google account - to add to the confusion, they couldn't remember their Google password either. I know the phone wasn't stolen though, they're just forgetful!

I seem to recall downloading some software, plugging the phone in while in recovery mode and letting it do it's thing. The software did work and I factory reset the phone again, just in case the software installed anything dodgy onto the phone. As far as I know the phone is still working.

I've just Googled and screenshots of DroidKit look exactly like the software I used. Whether it works on Google Pixels, I can't say.
