Pixie Lott

Are you lot deaf? Seriously :D

Warbling, yes. Big deal, that's just a modern style of singing. Average voice? Wha?? Listen to her range, listen to the strength of her vibrato, listen to her pitching, listen to the power in her voice during the choruses. You probably think that bird from the ting tings has a better voice no doubt.

BEing able to hold one note doesn't equal the ability to hold many different notes, I also, if you would care to try READING what I said, didn't say she couldn't sing nor that she couldn't hold those notes. I said its possible she likes singing that way, or that she can't hold her notes.

A TRULY great voice can hold almost any note and will only use a note they can hold, plenty of people do it way to much as a style though and it mostly sounds completely stupid. Aguilera would be one who does it constantly throughout her whole range, but its perfectly obvious she can sing the same notes without warbling when she wants to.

Funbags, otherwise known as Mariah Carey holds notes in her middle range perfectly, everyone tarts on about her massive range, but her very upper and lower stuff is always warbled, always, because those harder ranges she can't hold very well. Decent singer obviously but also sings utter utter tosh.

As said, Lott seems like she can sing, but her first two things were generic turdpiles, the latest one is better "music" but still bland and dull lyrics, cliched bull that I could happily live out the rest of my days never hearing again.

She's hot, cute and pretty, but her music couldn't be more boring.

To be perfectly honest and no insult meant, if you're not sure if she can hold her notes or if she just enjoys warbling, based on that performance, then you really aren't qualified to comment on singing. I don't care if no one likes the song. I really don't even care if they don't like her style! There's always better singers, of course. But to say that she's an AVERAGE singer (lol?) or even to imply that her warbling is to cover up deficiencies in her ability to hold a note (just listen to her singing in the chorus for proof that she can hold notes and powerfully) just defies belief.

Listen to it again, in the studio. This voice is a belter, make no mistake. ;)

You can find girls on youtube doing cover songs in their bedrooms that are 10 times better than this garbage. :D

Find me one.

Nice try, but no cigar for you. If you think any of those girls even remotely compare to pixie lott's voice, then, well, you carry on thinking that. ;)

Not really. I can name several singers who are even better than her and who I prefer and who I'd rather argue over. Just astounded by the sheer ignorance of people here who cite good singers as rubbish. Clueless tbh.

I swear X factor has ruined this country. Good voice or not, it's still a pretty unineresting song that even the best voice in the world couldn't make appealing.
.

So unappealing it made number 10 in the uk download charts and 12 in the uk singles charts. Actually, I think it's got less to do with x factor and more to do with the fact that there are still, believe it or not, people that like a good old fashioned song with a strong catchy melody.

Didn't Crazy Frog get to number one?

Saying charts is evidence of quality is about the most laughable thing you've said so far :)

I think you'll find I said her chart positions are evidence of people liking the song, I didn't mention quality. However, the song is quality imo, you just don't like this type of music, it's that simple. And to imply that cry me out is as rubbish as crazy frog is even more laughable. :)

Why do so many people come into a thread in a music forum just to spread negativity and mock. Even if I don't like a singer, and in fact I don't particularly like all the others you mentioned, I can still be objective and see they're talented.

that is not good, and yeah she sucks. but thats my opinion. also in my opinion pretty much all modern music is trash as well, also i fail to hear any power to her voice.
but hey im sure this has all been said before

Good god. Did you actually pay money to go to the school of stupid or are you self taught? Listen to how unpowerful her voice is. Oh yeah, shes only 18 and wrote the song herself. So average isn't she.

Why not read all the comments while you're at it.

Tiptop, the thing is, cat power has a 'nice' voice, but not a particularly strong or technical voice. She couldn't put a performance in of 'cry me out' with the same balls any more than nora jones could sing a joss stone song.

Touchstone, You must have read the comments for the wrong youtube link.

I listen to soul singers all the time and could probably name you more of them than you've had hot dinners matey, no disrespect. So I can tell you that she is right up there with some of the soul divas.
Compare to an opera singer? If you wanna do that, then all pop singers would be lost. You still think there ain't much power there? Lol, I really give up now, there's no hope for you lot.:D :)

yeah ill be honest im not a massive soul kinda guy so maybe that was misplaced of me to compare.
but on a seperate note i dont know why people go on about pop singers vocal power cos exactly like you said they would all fail in comparison.
but on a seperate note once again im fairly sure im ill equipped to comment on pop cos i bloody hate the stuff, so i will emeadiatley compare it to what i consider to be a better form of music (thats not quite coming out right but you now what i mean).
so to iterate i doubt i have much right to comment on pop.

That was the nicest thing said in this thread so far, and now I feel bad for insulting you (which was intended as a joke anyway as I'm sure you know) ;)
