Pizza is now a vegetable

Damn yanks.....what are my kids gonna eat from now on, as everyone knows they won't eat vegetables.
Just chips from now on then, oh wait a minute, aren't chips .......

To be fair they only came to this conclusion after a very long and expensive consultation with top medical expert Dr. Oetker.

I love the fact, that some Americans have stood there and gone "yeah... well it's got a lot of vegetables on it, so it must be good for you!"

Truly amazing.

You sure it's not a miss quote, I mean, Pizza does contain vegetables, you know meat, cheese, tomatoes.....what? you're telling me meat isn't a vegetable and the tomato is a fruit now, well when did that happen?

(For this you don't get it I was trying to make a joke about how stupid some americans are, notice the idiotic american I was trying to portray doesn't realise that cheese is not a vegetable either)

When the explaination is longer than the joke you know it's crap.

Pizza is now a vegetable

It already was a 'vegetable'.....nothing has changed, that's what the article is about. Don't people even read their own links?

The bill also would allow tomato paste on pizzas to be counted as a vegetable, as it is now. USDA had wanted to only count a half-cup of tomato paste or more as a vegetable, and a serving of pizza has less than that.

The article is about the USDA wanting to make it harder for things like pizza and starchy veg (chips) to be classified as 'vegetables' for school dinners. The classification as a 'vegetable' is only really relevant for Federally subsidized lunches, which must have a certain number of vegetables being served.

So basically the USDA was trying to remove chips and pizza from counting as a 'vegetable' and therefore forcing the subsidised meals to have more healthy vegetables on offer.

But it is nothing to do with suddenly declaring pizza as a vegetable - it already had that classification (in relation to subsidised school dinners) and that's what the USDA were trying to change.

Yeah, I read through the sources looking for something official and eventually got to that information.

It is still bad, but talk about spin!
