Places to camp in Scotland

They were a bunch of officious throbbers when I last dealt with them 40 years ago and I don’t expect they’ve improved.

Plus you now have the people that turn up at a quiet little rural site with a Yank sized RV or a huge caravan towed by an equally huge pick up truck and then party until the small hours.
I think you are talking about the Caravan club who are now the Caravan and Motorhome Club, they are a bunch of snobs, we joined them once years ago because we wanted to go into London and their site at Abbeywood was very convenient.
We use the Camping & Caravan club now and again who are different ( and cheaper) but only their Certified Sites which are the smaller more private ones.
We have never had any of the problems you mentioned but then we don't go on sites which have a club house etc

I have 3 kids so I want them to have a little break from gaming and TV so not to close to towns . Fishing and walking and coast will be nice experience.
I'm a Scotsman so I might be a wee bit biased! Around Loch Lomand area was maybe one of more beautiful for us. We rented a cottage so it was ideal for us and our hairy dog. This is one of the lakes ve visited. Might be good for fishing.

We stopped in a field one time and camped, woke up to a cow trying to get in the tent, not the best view to wake up to lol.

Talking about rude awakenings, once camped out in Glen Etive and was woken in the early hours by the afterburners of some jet fighter doing a low-level pass. Damn that was loud! Couldn't tell what type it was, could only see it's twin afterburners in the distance. Was also woken (early morning again!) by the mountain rescue helicopter landing in Glen Coe. I think I'd rather have those than a cow wanting a milking!
