Plane with undercarriage problem

The story was all over the news channels until it landed, then it vanished into the æther. Presumably the networks were all disappointed when it didn't burst into flames.

EDIT: Ignore this, I just noticed this was posted early this morning. I'm talking about a different incident altogether :p

It was an American Airlines 767. It departed Manchester and encountered problems with the hydraulics and had to make an emergency flapless landing. It landed fast, the tyres burst and the brakes overheated. Passengers were evacuated onto the runway whilst fire crews attended to stop the brakes from catching fire. There was also a hydraulic fluid spillage on the runway.

The runway at Manchester was closed from 14:30 ish and I was told that it would be for at least 90 minutes although likely to be longer. I left work at 15:30 though so haven't heard any more. The other runway had work in progress hence the closure of the aerodrome, we took a few diversions into Heathrow.

Thats a nice writeup, so you work at Heathrow?

Since your all disappointed at the lack of the footage, here is a very iffy landing at london city airport I think
