Planet Coaster 2

Check out Parkitect, I found it to be much more accommodating to the player who wishes to manage a park vs build one.
Oh I play that a lot still. But course coasters, graphics and such never felt same either. I spent months talking to Frontier during Alpha development. Had devs interact with how management could work with staff training and such. All sounded like direction they wanted and then this shallow mess came out.

Where are regions to purchase as you play through a career, expand the park as it's profits increase, unlock unique terrain locations (that are even on some maps already) where they are to be used effectively in the park design etc. Just do theme park/theme hospital etc. That was always in discussion.

It's out! I've bought it but haven't played yet, hopefully get on over the weekend.

From looking at Twitch/Subreddit it seems like it's an upgrade on Planco1 - however the UI sucks, seems like a ported UI from console that works better with controller than kb/mouse.

I played a few hours yesterday, it's good but some of the UI is a little confusing and takes time to adjust. Was getting pretty annoyed that the camera kept moving as I was laying paths but soon found that you can turn that off in the path menu.

Still a few bugs when you resize scenery artefacts but hopefully that will be sorted in a patch.

How is the park management?

As a few people have said, I really wanted to like planet coaster after coming from the RCT games. But it just felt a little too sandbox for me and I lost interest.

I have downloaded Planet Coaster 1 again to give it another try over the weekend.
I'm ashamed to say I've not even got far enough to build an actual roller coaster...

I really tried my best to get into the first Planet Coaster game in 2016, after loving Rollercoaster tycoon back in the day. In fact, I built my first PC in over a decade specifically for that game coming out.

I ended up disappointed. I tried to upload my creations and get involved in their forums etc, but my stuff just wasn't good enough compared to the creations of some exceptionally talented players. Without being able to share my stuff and drum up any interest in my creations, it became just another game.

I also got frustrated with the glitches in the graphics, like object clipping artifacts.

Probably won't bother trying the new one.

What would be good is the ability to have VR interaction in the whole park, as if you were really there. Walk around, go on the rides etc.

It's a lot of fun, I never played the first one but put a lot of time into Planet Zoo. They definitely released this too early though. Numerous bugs that are affecting my gameplay and clearly a lot of features that need amending / adding. I really wish developers wouldn't treat us as beta testers.

Park management seems even more basic than in Planet Zoo which is a shame, this is largely a simulation game than a management game.

Yeh they've already released the first patch/hotfix and it's only been out 2 days!
Good thing right? I dont think there are massive problems, just a few little issues looking at the patch notes, I'm enjoying it, love a good Tycoon sim:

Code:
PC only:
Workshop Changes
Our long-term goal is to remove the download limit for PC players. In the meantime, as we work towards this, we are increasing the workshop download limit from 1gb to 4gb. This increases the amount of content you can download to ~12,000 blueprints or ~240 parks!
Graphics
Fixed turning on DLSS after launching for the first time, which did not properly apply unless you subsequently set a DLSS Quality level
AMD 6700XT graphics cards will now default to High rather than Ultra for their default Graphics Preset
All platforms:
Graphics
Fixed an issue related to coaster cars/rides vanishing when near the camera
Fixed an issue with scenery disappearing that has been attached to rides
Fixed an issue where the brightness of interiors increased disproportionately when rotating the camera
Experiencing blurry images
Turned off Depth of Field and Motion Blur by default for new players
For players who have already started their game and wish to turn this off, this can be found within the Settings → Display Settings

Of course, but the fact that they've released a patch after only 2 days suggests that the game wasn't ready and I agree - there's a few bugs with re-sizing scenery objects and placements etc which shouldn't have featured in the released.

Nothing about the release state of this surprises me sadly, absolutely typical FD, but I'm sure that plenty of DLC will be regularly forthcoming regardless of finishing the base game :p

How do this run compared to the first Planco? My PC is 10 years old, Planet zoo runs better than Planco on this machine. Hoping Planco2 runs like Zoo, as Zoo seemed more optimised, less judder at high guest count compared to Planco.

Somewhat disappointed with this one. Doesn't really feel like its moved on much from PC1. And what the heck is the deal with the constant need to send mechanics to renew the ride certificate every 60 minutes, the breakdowns and need for refurbishment is a really immersion killer for me, it's so excessive.

I liked the first one of these, never really had the skill to build great parks, but think I may wait on this one, "AAA games launches with issues" tm :) strikes again?

I seem unable to make anything myself that looks even SLIGHTLY good, and resort to downloading things from the workshop! My current sandbox part is just a mix of workshop items (all around a woodern/forest theme). The only thing i've really done is decorate paths and trees lol
