Planet Zoo 2

Really wish I could get into these types of games... Loved Rollercoaster Tycoon as a kid but I have played many variants these days such as Planet Zoo, Planet Coaster, Cities Skylines etc and I am quite literally useless when it comes to creativity!

Looks cool though.

Loved the first one, loved Planet Coaster but after buying Planet Coaster 2 day one this is now very much on the wait and see list

Bought the first one cheap ages ago and hardly played it, played a lot of PC1 and still haven't bought PC2 either, mainly down to knowing that it's just a DLC sales engine for FD and I'm just not willing to keep spending money on it.

I always look at videos of these games and think whoa that park looks so cool ! Then I buy them and try making a park and it always ends up looking like something built by the Chuckle Brothers, blindfolded, at night, whilst wearing oven gloves, out of dry spaghetti.

I feel the pain, I really do.

I spy with my little eye some OcUK mouse mats from the Chester Zoo event.

I'm impressed by how many different creatures are included with the base game for this, normally these titles have a quite limited number of base game animals and then tons of DLC animals but PZ2 is looking like its got a pretty large number of base animals

Tempted to get today but really should wait till payday (its in 6 days) and as got a busy weekend will hold fire for the moment. Certainly looks a lot better than Planet Coaster 2

Really enjoying this, some really nice QoL features in it this time around. Its been a great day for releases because the other game released today, Valor Mortis, has also been really good so far

Did you play Planet Coaster 2?

Interested to know how the pathing is in this compared to that.

The larger base-game animal roster sounds like a much better starting point. It makes the game feel less like a bare framework waiting for DLC.

I did, briefly...the pathing is better in this but still subject to quirks and oddities from time to time but I've been able to better deal with thing so far, still very early days yet though and my zoo is still very small which may be helping

That looks great

I am a bit disappointed at the moment, hopefully some of the bugs will get fixed soon which will ease my frustration. Aquariums just don't seem to work, no matter what I do animals are constantly being boxed up, tried my own built, blueprints and workshop builds all same and seems to be a common thing. My main gripe though is the progression, I am playing franchise mode but am stuck at level 2 and cant get to level 3 yet. In order to get to level 3 I need to breed and release into nature reserve but because I don't have conservation points and the only animals I can buy have rubbish fertility so I am stuck waiting to breed enough to release, I am in year 4 and got to wait another 2 years before I can release what I have so far. So I am sitting with 750,000 money pouring in but cant get any new animals as they are locked so just sit around waiting to unbox my aquariums

Hopefully weekend can spend a bit more time on it and work on making paths properly

Yeah franchise is the mode I play, I dont much like the sandbox mode so I stick to franchise. I got to level 3 pretty quickly, mainly thanks to making sure to do the enrichment researches and then getting my animals to thriving status using it. I got to level 3 with only 2 habitats, one with meerkats in and one with warthogs in (which breed like mad once you have them thriving)
