Not sure if it was the high winds on Friday, the local kids messing with my fence or a planned robbery on my house but I came home yesterday to find that one of the fence panels for my garden was removed from the posts but placed back standing up against the posts.

It’s one of those panels that are normally held in by grooves in the posts.. I only noticed it as I have a raised flower bed in the garden and the panel was standing on the out side so it was much lower than the other fence panels.

It might be totally innocent and came out in the winds, it was ok Thursday when I went out to empty the house bins and I didn’t spot it on Friday/Saturday morning, which I may have done while doing the dishes..

The panel seems to be smaller than the width of the posts now and won’t stay in.. I’ve jammed a few tree off cuts in there for now to keep it in place.

Waiting for my brother to come back before nailing some wood to the side of the panel and dropping it back in. It’s too heavy for me to lift it to the height of the posts and dropping it in once the wood gets nailed to the side.

This happened to my fence when it was really windy a couple of years ago. Some panels that were a little loose were able to come out of the concrete post slots, another panel that I couldn't just slide back in but had to lift up high and back into the slots somehow also came out of its slots.

I don't know your location but it was pretty windy a few days ago. The wind did it.

The wind and then a person did it. Both things happen.

My neighbours saw some kids smash a hole in their fence, had an argument and went for a drive and it was mysteriously fixed before they came back.

I don’t think it’s a planned robbery, just the wind.

If a would be robber can lift your panel out easily, they can do it on the date / time of the robbery and they wouldn’t leave it obviously out of place to put you on high alert.

Those panels aren’t heavy, can usually be lifted straight out and in near silence it just doesn’t seem like something they’d do in advance if someone was planning on breaking in.

Honestly think you’re fine. I think it’s blown out and a neighbour was leaving it for you to find, perhaps they weren’t tall enough to get in again alone
