By the end of this month I plan to have the following setup but wonder if my existing Seasonic 600W PSU is going to be enough?

Core 2 Duo E6850 @ (hopefully) 3.6-3.8Ghz
Asus P5K Deluxe
4GB (4x1GB) Crucial Ballistix PC5300
Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
1 x Scythe S-Flex 1600rpm
2 x Scythe S-Flex 1200rpm
640MB XFX 8800 GTS
750GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
500GB Hitachi Deskstar 7K500
1 x DVD Dual Layer RW
1 x DVD-ROM/CD-RW
Silverstone Temjin TJ09 B-W
Samsung SM226BW

Everything should at least work together perfectly....although I've changed my mind on so many things that I've probably messed up somewhere :)

Well, I've already got a Hitachi along with a 200GB drive I'm replacing. I was considering the 750GB or 1TB Hitachi drives but I'm not happy with the price of the 1TB and the 750GB isn't available from where I want it to be while the Seagate is.

I read a review on all the aftermarket coolers with tests done on them (was about 25 of them). For the price your probably best off with the Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler which was right at the top. Thats if you wanted to save a bit extra money. I seem to remember there being only a matter of a few degrees difference in the two. If your not looking to overclock to much, say keeping it around the 3GHz, im sure the Tuniq would be fine. In the reviews they took the overclocking as high as 3.9Ghz

Im curious as to why you need so much hard drive space. I would never get over 320gb let alone in the terabytes!

Also, if you can save money on the Hard drives or in other places you should really try get the GTX :) ... GTS just doesn't sound the same :) hehe

:EDIT: just read that you want to go up to 3.8Ghz. Paying that bit extra might be worth it then to keep it cooler. But i cant rember, this may have been on quad cores that the tests were done on, which would have been twice as hot as the duel.

Just switched to a 640MB BFG 8800 GTS as I prefer the longer warranty and the price difference is negligible.

Get 4GB Ballistix PC5300 (they clock roughly the same) and with the money you save get a raptor HD

I'd considered the PC5300 but was a tiny bit concerned at the chances of it falling over despite being capable of running at the ~840Mhz I'm likely to want. Am I being a bit too paranoid?

I believe it was on the quads as I'm pretty sure we're thinking of the same comparison. The Tuniq was my first choice but I want to make sure I get the temperatures exactly as I want them so for peace of mind more than anything I'm going for the Ultra 120 Extreme. If it had cost much more than it does, though, I'd have chosen something else.

The GTS I'm getting is £100 less than the OCUK GTX and for that reason I've struggled to justify spending so much extra when playing at 1600x1050.

As for hard drive space, I never thought I'd get through the amount I have but I somehow manage it :|.

Get one 1Tb hard drive.

Surley you can get two DVD Dual Layer RW.

You will not notice the sound level difference between the 1600rpm and 1200rpm Scythes and they are both the same price so just get two 1600rpm models.

I dont like that case myself I would rather go for a Lian Li V2000 or G70.

I could but I've already got both of the drives and won't buy another until one of them stops working.

I'll take your advice on the 1600's and I think the motherboard might give me some sort of control on rotation speed if I require it.

I'll look at the other cases mentioned.
