Planning a 4-5 day Wales trip - Roads & places to stay

A friend and fellow OcUK member and I went to Wales last September as our first mini biking trip.

Below is a gigantic image I put together to try and sell him the route I planned (through a little bit of web research). I'm sure a local would point out loads we missed (and I hope someone does). My plan was to get to the west coast as quickly as possible then spend the time we had enjoying the ride to the north via the coast and back south via Snowdonia.

The street view images are marked on the map and were selected completely random at. I just dropped the yellow dude on the map; I didn't even make him walk an inch.

The highlights were the ride from Caernarfon to Capel Curig and the "Evo Triangle". I can't speak much for the route through Snowdonia as SOMEONE (^^^^^^^^^) got us lost.

Google Maps

What I learned from the trip:
  • 90% of the roads in Wales are great to ride with stunning views.
  • A common past time of the Welsh is painting "ARAF" on the roads every 12 feet. I think it means "nice corner ahead"

Ramblers were also camping around here; it looked like they were just pitching tents in the fields by the road.
