Hi,

I'm planning refurbing my flat-new windows, carpet, lights, coving, paint, kitchen cabinets and appliances, and a few other bits and pieces.

Now I'm quite happy where most of the materials/labour is coming from...except the windows.

I want to crack on and get stuff done, but its likely that the windows will take 2+ months. If I was to push ahead its likely that painting and carpet will be done before the windows come in.

I suppose I can touch up the paint after the windows go in. But thats not ideal.

Thoughts, especially for people who've done similar.

Thanks,
R

windows ideally should be done first.

Just don't do anything with the walls until the windows are done, and 2+ months is silly.

Lighting, coving, carpet etc can be done now if you want though.

Windows first, doing them will make a mess and dmage the walls around them. Much better to get them in before plastering etc and 100% better to get them in before soft furnishings and carpets.

Not that you can't do it your way you would just get a better result the other way!

Exactly my thoughts.

I'm not gutting the place, so there shouldnt be too much plastering, just cleaning the edges.

Main issue is it delaying carpet going in.

The 2+ months issue is caused by the windows being new sash timbers. Any recommendations, let me know.

Also Doors last, or before carpet?

Floor height will change post carpet, so after seems to make most sense. But mess caused by fitting might get into the carpets.
