One of my best friends in oakington does conversions rennovations etc and I will ask him which architects he recommends in the area.

I think architects in Cambridge tend to be expensive, because its Cambridge .

i would imagine with the fees involved you aren't dealing with an architect, sounds more like a plan drawer - you need to check if they have any pii cover.
it sounds a fairly straight forward job, so you may not need a registered architect anyway, but it is important to know what you are dealing with
charging by the week is a new one on me, maybe i'll give that a go!
