hello all, first of all, is this dsi XL going to be worth it for the 4.2inch screens? It's awful expensive but i'm a ds fan boy. :p I had one but had to give it up for £40 during some hard times :(

Also could anyone list the must have and some diamonds in the rough. I love rpgs, puzzlers everything! As long as it is a video game. I had chrono trigger... That was such an epic game. :)

As well as the larger DS coming soon there is also a DS2 coming out. I think if you are buying now, just get the original DS. There's more RPG games than you would ever find time to play.

The screens will be bigger, but at the same resolution. So, if your eyes are good enough for the regular DS, stick with that as it will look less pixelated.

Okies, sticking with the regular one. I can hanker a guess at what RPGs to get. Any other indie games that might peek my interest? (I like everything, honestly)

Thanks for the replies. :)

Edit - I can get the DSi for £125 and most DSL seem to be £100, surely worth the extra £25?

Depends... do you want to play with two 0.3mp cameras? Do you want to buy things on the DSIWare shop? Do you mind losing the option to use the GBA slot?

You can get the DS lite for less than £100. I see it in supermarkets for £80 with a game.

as of the moment, if you're on a budget the DS lite seems to be better, however the DSi does feel better, and it holds a lot better than the lite, but only if you can justify the cost.

rumor has it Iwata is planning the DS2 details to be released late 2010 with a early 2011 release date, but this is only rumor.

I'm umming and ahhing over this as well. At the moment any time my little sister puts down her DS lite, (which aint that often!) I'm there in a shot, re-enjoying phoenix wright series, advance wars, mario kart and many others. I was just about to slap down about £100 to get myself a dsi, when I remembered that the XL was coming soon. I never carry any game system in my pocket, but the thing is HUGE. Ahhh what to do!

RBG

Edit: Just re-read OP. Heres my list of gems

Phoenix Wright Series and Apollo Justice Ace Attorney
Advance Wars DS
Final Fantasy IV
The World Ends With You
Elite Beat Agents
Metroid Prime Hunters

And many more I'm sure.

I had FF3, 4 and tactics, probably re buy them. I loved them.

Never got to finish 4 though. :( It nearly kicked 7 off of my top favourites.

I highly recommend the Mario and Luigi Games. Bowser's Inside story one is fantastic I am currently playing through it now. Also Partners in Time is another great Mario and Luigi game.

Also the Dragon Quest games are pretty good too. The Dragon Quest Franchise is HUGE in Japan (usless info for you :p)

If you're a FF:Tactics fan, get Fire Emblem. The DS one is a little meh, compared to the rest of the series, but they're all still quality RPGs.

Also, Rhythm Paradise is another awesome Elite Beat Agents-style music rhythm game that most people seem to have missed.

oh also the Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood is a cracking game also

Made by Bioware if that means anything to you :p :)

Really? By bioware? Never knew that, awesome. Means a lot, have a lot of faith in bioware.

Fire eblem is supposed to be quite good, I'll probably pick it up.

I will get the mario rpgs too, I enjoyed the gbc one. :p

All this talk of the ds's great games is making me want one NOW. Just weighin up whether or not the lovely screens are worth waiting for...

I have to say RPG wise I think the DS has had the best year (2009 ofc)

With the exception of a few games on the consoles and PC. The DS has had a lot of rpgs and in good quality too.

I love my DS atm so many games to play through :)

I bought a DSi with Spirit Tracks, I also got pokemon platimun.

I'm going to get that fire emblem and also other rpgs if I can remember there names. :D The DSi is so well built compared to the dsl imo.
