So coming to the end of the year, what plans do you have for your car in 2017?

For me I have the following on the cards for the GTR:

Interior overhaul:
  • Front and rear dashcams - Hidden main units with remote lenses - All cables hidden
  • Soundproofing/deadening much (most) of the interior
  • Upgrade sound system - Rip the entire bose system out and replace it with Audison and Hertz gear
  • Take apart all trim, pad and re-affix to remove all the little interior rattles.

Paint/Bodywork:
  • 3 Stage paint correction to bring the car back to new and sort all the little niggles
  • Ceramic coating
  • Alloys refurbed and sealed with C5 Wheel Armour

Tyres + Brakes:
  • Replace Pzeros with MPS4-S
  • Upgrade all discs to Alcons
  • All pads to Pagids

POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR:
  • Stage 1 Ecutek Tune in Feb ~70 gained HP
  • 102mm Y pipe - Remove 1 set of cats
  • K&N Large cone Air Filters (can do this at stage 2 possibly)
  • Possible but not decided - Suspension kit upgrade to deal with the cars preference to understeer

MORE POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR:
  • Stage 2 Ecutek Tune in October ~20 gained HP from stage 1
  • Full 102mm Exhaust

Servicing:
  • Feb and October services

Training:
  • CAT DT Training

Track days/Fun days
  • Whatever we arrange here on ocuk so far :D

A lot of this comes from deciding im going to be keeping this a lot longer than thought (was planning on 2 years, but having had it for a year im not bored of it yet (by now on most other cars I was already looking to sell)). So don't mind putting sensible money into the car as such.

The one I am looking forward to will be the CAT DT training, I know the GTR flatters drivers, and am under no illusion it does for me also, however after speaking to other GTR drivers all have said this course really let them get a feel for just how far the car can be pushed before it bites back, so hopefully will be a worthwhile couple of days.

Change the oil, hope it doesn't die/blow up. Some more sideways on the beach. Try not to crash it. Possibly, but most likely not replace the bald rear tyres.

My Astra is undergiong somewhat of a rebuild. I took it off the road this year following another turbo failure (cheap crap bearings), and kinda got carried away.

This is the current state of it:

As you can see, not pretty :D I have mostly removed all of the seam sealer in the engine bay, as it's very messy from factory. Also cut off many brackets and things which are no longer used. Plan is to clean it all up, stitch weld some of the joints for strength, then smooth the bay as much as I can, and of course paint it. Also wanting to hide as much wiring as possible, as well as removing the battery to put into the boot.

Whole front end suspenion is getting powder coated, subframe, struts, the lot. I've got solid adjustable top mounts to fit. I'm planning on a Compbrake 4-pot brake setup and various other bits, a few polybushes here and there too.

Engine is going to get an overhaul. It's not broken, but with close to 140k miles on it, I think it's safe to refresh it while trying to push past the 400bhp barrier. I have a new ally radiator, bigger intercooler, and a brand spanking new GTX2867R :D And going for a paddle clutch while it's all apart too.

Sooo many other plans, it's quite a daunting task really. Excited though, I want to turn it into what I've always dreamt of doing.

Not my cars, but the ones I'm working on.

1) Pa's Barchetta:
  • Fit the new digital clock into the centre console properly
  • Replace all the loose/missing/wrong/knackered up screws in the interior
  • Fit a new battery

2) Pa's Land Rover:
  • Change out the current carb (twin-choke Weber) for an original unit (Zenith 36IV)
  • Get the front bumper off so a mate can weld a plate into it
  • Fit the 3pt retracting seatbelts that I've bought Pa for Christmas

Fix exhaust drone, should be soon ish in the new year, just didnt want to commit with my schedule past couple of months.

Proper out and out clean, needing it badly since winter began and will get her shining after christmas.

Apart from that not much, except maybe take her to germany, or leave her on the drive for 6 months i'll decide on that later.

*Wishes he had the space, money and spare car to do anything more entertaining*

Well, I would like to take my '96 Civic CRX Del Sol off the road and give it a bit of a TLC:

The front of the rear arches is looking grim and some paint would spruce it up a bit.

The wheels need a full refurb, welding, grinding and coating.

Engine bay needs a tidy, new HT Leads as it needs loads of WD40 every now and then.

Will probably buy another Del Sol as a runabout while the work takes place. Kind of hooked on them now, so cheap to run.

On the z4 -;

Sort out all the little dings and scuffs.
Refurbish all the wheels
Head unit upgrade
Suspension refresh, new bushes all around
Fit dashcam

That's it.

Needs a service, that's about it. Re-grease seals, replace a couple of wheel arch plastics retention clips (which I've had sitting in a bag for a year).

Did a DIY roof repair a few months ago (which was also sitting around in a bag for a year before I pulled my finger out). I'd like to get a paint correction and a few little resprays sorted but that's time and effort which I'm not sure I can be arsed with!

Just little bits to fix/tidy up...

Sort why the rear washer isn't working (hopefully an easy fix like a pipe has come loose).
Have the rear spoiler repainted due to laquer peeling.
Find a new little non-slip mat thing to fit one of the cubby holes :p
Get a replacement gear knob insert/badge as the paint has peeled off.
A few other odds and ends I can't remember... Other than that i'd be very happy to not have to do/spend too much else if everything is as it should be!

My daily driver will probably be swapped three times in 2017. In January I swap the Astra for an Insignia Elite, then in May/June I should be getting one of the new Insignias (which look awesome), and I'm sure I'll have something else before the end of the year.

For the other two cars funds will be diverted elsewhere so the plan is just to drive and enjoy them. Which is the point in having them after all.

Will need new fronts shortly but other than that I love it as it is. I'm not 17 so no plans for any exterior mods and the performance does me just fine for now.

I now have 3 cars in the stable.

2003 Mini Cooper

Not much this needs. Just keep it clean and tidy and run it gently. Just over 2 years away from being handed over to my eldest daughter.

2007 A4 Avant

Currently running it's OE wheels as I've buckled one of the aftermarket wheels it usually runs on. If I buy a new one that will be 7 wheels purchased altogether (I smashed 2 hitting something on the M4) need to decide whether to buy a new one of give up on them. Car feels much better on it's OE wheels.

2005 Impreza STI Spec C Type RA

Make room in the garage for when the new addition arrives. If it doesn't need anything straight away the plan is to have the underneath refreshed. New bushes, all the pink linkages renewed or cleaned. Not quite concors as I'm not anal enough but very clean.
