One of my mates has recently bought a Plantronics 780 Headset, and to cut a long story short, he absolutely loves it.
Apparently it's 7.1 surround sound with multiple speakers in each side and he says it sounds fantastic not only for games but for movies as well.
Whenever I game online it's mainly with him and online he sounds very clear, oh and it's got built in noise cancellation as well. I as thinking of picking one of them up myself, but wondered what other people opinions on this headset were?

I've read that the built quality is not that brilliant, with it snapping after a while. This could be down to people not taking care of it, who knows.

But for the price, I may get one.

I've not actually seen my mates headset, I might ahve to ask him what it's like build quality wise, or better still pop round to his after work one night and give it a go for myself. Yeah the price was certainly what attracted me, it also looks great, which is also a bonus :D

I bought a set of these about 4 months ago, and I like them. The built quality feels fine to me and the headset still feels comfortable after gaming for a few hours. The 7.1 is virtual surround sound and not true surround sound, but still sounds good. For a £40 headset, I don't think you can get better :)

I have also been told by friends I play online with, the mic is very clear.

I've had mine for about a month now and really like it. I paid about ~£40 for it.

Please note that it's the only headset that I've had so I can't compare it to anything else. However, if you're undecided save up for another couple of weeks and it'll take the edge off :)

I find that it helps pick out footsteps and directional stuff very well. Build quality is okay - if you don't bash them around or drop them, they'll be fine. The cable is USB and pretty long. Mic quality is (apparently) good over Skype.

Brilliant guys, thanks very much for the feedback, very much appreciated. It's my Birthday at the end of the month so I think I'll ask for these, especially seeing as I can't really think of anything else I want :D

i had the analogue borther of the 780 (777) and it was amazingly good for its price.
i had recently bought a tiamat 7.1 and the mic is a lot worse on the tiamat but hey atleast them sub's actually make diffirence when the headset is in 2.2

I've got these and think they are great for the price. The only problem I have is that I cannot get the software to work on Windows 8 and so am stuck without virtualised 7.1

I recommend these headphones too....

Not the most attractive but it's more function over form in this case.

The surround works very well ans have changed my gaming as I can hear peoples footsteps in game now where i could not with my old sennhesier headset.

Now there's a name from years gone by! Long time no see :)

Just to echo the rest of the posters really, in the price bracket not much will come close from what i've seen and read. I run a set myself after trying my friends for a while :)

I got a pair of these a few months ago and I've been really impressed by them. Great sound, the mic's clear and they're comfortable to wear so for the price I'd recommend them.
