I dont think there is any NEED to buy anything, you can progress for free

The problem is that if you don't buy anything then the game becomes a grind. It isn't fun without paying silly money.

I'd much rather pay £3 up-front and know that I'm getting the whole game.

I agree with the above, its decent but theres not much incentive to keep playing. I loved earning money on the first to buy new plants now all you can buy is stupid combo type moves.

I think a better way to deal with the stars is to offer 3 stars for 3 objectives and then let you try and meet all 3 in the same game rather than giving you new objectives each time and making you replay the same level 3 times.

Found it terrible, don't understand how people think its better than the first.

I don't like how you can only unlock more plants/slots by grabbing keys which seemingly drop completely randomly.

Grinding, and EA forcing you to pay for content, at its finest.
