A friend of mine is selling this telly..

Panasonic Viera (Plasma) TH42PE-30

Now i knows it a superb TV for standard signals (S-Video etc) But does it suuport any Progressive signals?

Looking for 720i or 1080i ideally? (Ive heard it dosnt do 720p) Its mainly for Film watching (DVD) and my gamecube / Xbox

Advice ? (Was looking at £600-800 ish if i can haggle him down.

If you have heard it doesnt support 720p then does that not answer your own question about Progressive support?

(I dont actually know, by the way)

well just cos it dosnt do 720p, it dosnt mean it dosnt do 720i or 1080i ? Which some people claimed it does do.. but i havnt got any proof.

My TV knowledge is sketchy but am I right in thinking that the p means progressive and i means interlaced - two different things entirely?

I cant see anything about that? It just says progressive scan is supported but is not Hi-Def compatible?

If you look at the second Paragraph "three scarts lead the way, followed by high def and prog scan enabled componant video jack.

Second row, second paragraph "the Viera fared best with premium grade material such as prog scan and high def"

So it should be able to accept High def through the componant inputs but it will down scale it to the screens resolution nas as soon as HDCP comes into play ..well thats a different matter
