Plasma Buzzing Issue

Got a Samsung PS50Q97HDX but boy does it make a racket!

It’s a loud humming and buzzing noise coming from the back of the set I was just wondering is this normal for plasmas? Do your sets buzz and hum?

Hi

Yes plasmas do buzz some more than others thats what put me off getting one but sometimes according to reviews you can reduce the buzzing by altering the picture setting.

I've got a Panasonic 42PX70 and there's no audible noise from the TV beyond 5 feet. The Sky Box however is ludicrously loud...

I had no idea of the loudness they make

Coming from a LCD it’s very audible, I'm 99% sure I am going to return the set and look for another it’s really that bad.

Plasma's are known for buzzing sadly... Mines buzzes when the picture is very bright and dies down when the picture is back to normal brightness levels... If it can be heard over a respectable volume level then you should return it.

Have you tryed altering the picture setting to see if the buzzing reduces.

Yea dark pictures have an effect and low contrast quietens the set, but I can’t see what’s going on when the contrast is that low

I get no buzzing noises from my two pioneer plasma's

I am going to send the Plasma back paid £900 for it the question is do I get a different Plasma or a Samsung 1080p LCD?

I do prefer the picture from a plasma, however I chose LCD because of screenburn issue, wanted 1080p/24hz, and using it from a HTPC.

Probably will get a 1080p plasma for movies/htpc use (not windows, just video playback) then move the 1080p LCD to the gaming rig in a few years.

LCD's hum/buzz a bit also, usually when not at 100% backlight. A ultra quiet HTPC is about the same volume.

Hrmm... how long you had it? If youve just got it and it is very noticeable over normal viewing then i'd suspect it was faulty.

Dont hear mine at all. Between the plasma, ps3 and lappy possibly the laptop makes more noise... never the plasma though.

Got it on Tuesday so not long, I can get a recording of the noise if you want? 2 mins.

Scrap that idea I can’t get any decent sound levels on my phone, I’d say the volume over 15 with SRS TS ZT on & Auto Volume turned on it get drowned out anything lower than 15 you can hear the buzzing.

I dont get any noticeable noise from my Pioneer Plasma, if your screen is bad id phone them up and get a replacement.
