You sure it isn't:
1 HOUSE |3 CARS' |1 WIFE |1 KID |3 DOGS' |0 TIME

lol.

Guessing you already got your answer CSA as several peeps have mentioned the res, and extend rather than duplicate. But test in isolation anyway.

100% sure it's not. :p When in doubt, go without.

ok im getting some where now , so i unistalled the ATi drivers and unplugged my monitor , rebooted with just the tv connected and for the first time since i bought it i had a picture ! albeit a colour distorted picture lol

so i went onto install ATI drivers just with the tv connected and lost signal again, not the usual blank screen for a few seconds when installing drivers but a full on 10 minutes wait loss of signal

but gunna try again and disable some options in ATI driver install

i know this might sound stupid could it be the graphics card?
i have the same setup as you and it just worked from the start and my system is only 2 weeks old, the only thing different is i have a 5850 card and lg pk350 screen

HHmmm not sure , the card seems to be working fine in every other way,i game every day on it and not seen any issues,or maybe u means coz its older tech ?

The issue here is that you're trying to clone your display to two monitors that run on a different resolution. To fix this issue, you will need to run your TV in extended desktop mode, which as the name suggests, extends your desktop to the additional monitor/TV.

Not true!

I have a similar set up and can duplicate as well as extend, all duplicate does is leave your 1080 display outputting a lesser resolution.

I have plug and played a Mac with a PCI ATI card with VGA, an Ubuntu PC with an HIS IceQ 3850 AGP using a DVI-HDMI adaptor, and two W7 pc's each with a ATI 4879 (adaptor) and a Powercolor HD 5750 with HDMI direct out.

My LG has produced 1080 with all the above running, but lower res with my 1680+1050 monitor conected at the same time.

To the original OP,

Do you have another PC you can try, or another graphics card? Have you tried labeling the input as PC or tried using the VGA input?

yup input set to pc,not tried vga as the cable isnt long enough, i could try a smaller vga to my laptop but not sure how that would help ? i got a tech friend coming around tomorrow maybe he can shed some light on the problem

ok crisis over weve found out what the issue is,my hdmi cable from pc to tv is buggered, well maybe not but its certainly not good enough for a signal,my m8 plugged his hdmi laptop into it and still had no signal so just had a quick go with another shorter cable and it worked fine

doh !

EDIT: thanks for all the advice anyway, much appreciated :)
