Well, I couldn't find anywhere with the 50G20, but I did find the 46G20. Comparing it beside the PK590, I couldn't see any big difference myself so I went with the 50G20 as I could take it home then and there and not have to order it online.

Good choice. Put it in THX mode, turn off all the digital processing options (and there are quite a few) and you'll have a great TV

I did a lot of research into this not long ago and the panasonic does seem a no brainer.

The general feeling from what i read was that the LG still suffers far more from image retention than literally any of the competition but still gives off a nice picture but this fact alone put me off them a bit.

Were you not tempted to wait until the new models came out?

I actually worded that wrong.

I could only get the 50G20 online.
The shop had a 46G20 and 50PK590 which I compared and couldn't see any big difference, so I took home the 50PK590.

Doesn't the G20 have a serious issue with brightness and buzzing?

it's why I didn't get one yet and am waiting for G30 reviews?

I have a P50V20, same panel but better black filter (and they're available at bargain prices right now, get them quick!), and while there is a buzz, it's really only audible during periods of silence. Watched Quantum of Solace a couple of nights back and didn't notice it at all. I mean, literally nothing. Also, it only really happens with lighter colours, I guess for obvious reasons.
