Plastering costs

£350!!

I paid £80 for a similar size room, but he also patched up an uneven patio door frame too, in another room. This was mates rates though.

I have had loads of plastering done, the guys i use seem to charge per "set", which includes 4 walls and a ceiling, and about 3*3m max floor size. (none of my rooms are this small tbh but you just multiply it out, the reason for "set" charging rather than room charging is that sometimes you might mix and match a complete set when doing a whole house up).

Anyway, they charge £150 for that small "set" in Oxfordshire so theres a ballpark for you. Your bathroom would easily fit into that. Included in that is pretty much any amount of making good and filling holes etc, most of my rooms had butchered patchwork ceilings from downlight installs with no access etc.

I think he's priced it not wanting the job. i.e great if I get it but really not bothered.

I would say around £150/£200 max as it's a small room and max 1 days full work probably

See, the responses here are exactly what I was expecting to be quoted. I was expecting £200-£250 but hoping for less.

Had another round this morning that wants £450, yes, FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS STERLING just to skim a bloody bathroom. I would expect the boarding to be delivered and fitted, and the damn bathroom suite fitted as well for that price.

Does anyone have any experience with Rated People?

At these rates you'd be better getting my guy to come up from Oxfordshire and paying for a hotel and mileage :D

I have found a football buddy that does this as a sideline alongside shopfitting :) If it's gonna be a high quote at least he'll explain in real terms why!

My charges depend on the surface i'm skimming but as a general rule £120-150 a day + materials. That size bathroom would be done in 4-6 hours so not a full day.

I work in the north so might be considered cheap. I had a pro for a quote for a bedroom at £220 which was 5mx3m walls only.

Guy I use charges £200 a day including materials and he grafts his nuts off. If the room was already boarded out then Id expect him to charge me £150.

Just had a quote from a plasterer and wondered whether it would match your opinions.

3mx2m (or about 10 foot by 6.6 foot) bathroom, if I was to do all boarding and the lighting, etc. So the plasterer is, in effect, just skimming though there will be some small areas he'll have to fill too.

What do you think a ballpark quote would be? Ta

Just give it a crack yourself - pick up a good trowel:

Then watch a youtube how to video and you'll be fine - honest I've learned a lot from videos and my house hasnt fallen down yet - honest!

I always read that word as shoplifting. Thought you were being brutally honest for a mo :D

The guy I use is a professional plasterer & he charged us £165 for a similar sized room earlier this year, and he had a lad with him (who admittedly looked pretty hung over and only really did the fetching & sweeping). And that's Sussex prices!

£130 a day for plasterer I use and I would guess at a days work max there.

Before I met this guy I had a few quotes for about a days work at my old house and one of those was c. £350-£400!
