Personally, I'm delighted to witness QEII's Platinum Jubilee. It's a historic event that most of us are unlikely to see again in our lifetimes.

I think Liz only gets to celebrate this once.

Thinking of going along to one of these beacon lighting things this evening, not got any other plans really other than seeing some friends on Sat which will end up being jubilee themed by default .

A few local events some churches doing music and picnic type things, not that keen on any of them though.

Would be fun to be down in London to see the big celebrations in person, just a lot of effort and expense to have a day trip from up North

When the various troops are marching why do the ones carrying SA80s have a little fabric cover over their optic? Why not just take the optic off instead?

The same reason that they have a cover over the fore end : It makes the SA80 look less fugly.

I believe that the optics aren’t removed as they don’t maintain zero if removed and refitted.
