Opinions?

Is it value for money, how long will I get on the pad without having one of these to charge as I play?

Thanks

Yeah i have two and find them very useful, as for time im not sure, at a guess maybe 24 hours or so? i dont seem to plug mine in very often. They're also useful for keeping your controller on, say for simming forza 2 races :D

Play and charge is an essential purchase imo. You can charge it while the console is off, so if you keep track of it you won't ever ned to plug in the lead whilst playing.

As for Sony's **** poor effort, what the **** were they thinking? The Sixaxis has a rechargable battery built in. But, the lead they supply is so short it's pretty much impossible to play and charge at the same time, unless you want to sit on the floor about 2 feet away. Add to this the fact that you can't charge it with the console turned off and you have to wonder what sort of idiots are running this company.

Rant over.

We have 2 for our Xbox, the charges last weeks.

It'll eventually save you over what you pay for it... xbox360 controllers eat through normal batteries.

Because its so hard to find a USB cable extension. Ive got about 5 lying around the house.

The play and charge kit is a godsend, really easy to charge your battery while playing and you get around 10 hours out of the battery from my experience.

He has a point though, its pretty stupid and silly to bundle in a short cable these days. I mean sitting 2 ft in front of the tv isnt going to do your eyes any good is it??.

Anyways the Play and charge kit is a must have for the 360, makes things so much easier...plug it in when battery is almost dead and keep playing whilst it charges. Pretty nifty device.

Yeah it's very stupid, not too much of a bother for me as I usually sit very close to my TV but still.

Plug&Play kit is very good value for money I think and it will save you money in the future as you won't have to keep buying batteries!

right...

a free cable and you complaining. well done.

its costs about £2 for an extention. rather than the £15 for the play and charge kit.

clearly i am, but just for the record, can you explain why?
Honestly, I couldn't be bothered entering into such a pointless argument.

Also, the fact that you can buy a longer cable for next to nothing doesn't change the fact that it's stupid to supply one that is almost unusable, especially when you consider that you have don't have the choice with the Sixaxis, the battery is built in.

I honestly couldn't see this managing to turn into a PS3 bashing thread tbh

And in defense to Sony, the charge on the controller for the PS3 does last about 5 times as long as the 360 one, and you can charge the PS3 on off any USB port, PC's etc. And at least it is play and charge out the box :p

to the OP get the P&C kit, but there is also a quick charge kit that you may be more interested in? I know a few people preffer it

yes it is essential , thats why ms should have included a rechargable battery with it IMO

so youd rather have to go out and buy one than get one free ?

and then when you do buy one ms charge a fortune for the play and charge kit whereas sony opted for a simple usb cable you can buy for a couple of quid or most likely already own

same with the hdd situation

yeah makes sense to me...... not , maybe you should have a think about what your saying before calling people idiots :p

Charge a fortune? It can be had for a tenner at places.

It's actually pretty good price wise as you get the cable and the battery pack.

I dont understand the need for recharge kits! Most people have AA batteries and chargers dont they? I use 2800ma batteries (for my cameras also) and they last atleast 30 hours easy

Well i find it easier and much more nicer ie dont have to keep pulling out the batteries...finding the charger then plugging the charger into the wall or power socket etc etc.

Whereas the plug and play charge kit...the battery pack stays in the controller and you just plug one end into the usb port of the 360 and other end into the controller...therefore saving you all that faffing about with taking batteries out then putting them into the charger.

Seems like the easiest way if you ask me...a matter of seconds whereas with the batteries and charger..at least a good few mins??.

Waste of money imho, 8 AA batteries and a charger can be had for under 20 quid from some places, means you always have four charged batteries.

Even better was that I already had them for my camera, I have looked and the Play and charge kits and cannot justify spending £15-20 on them.

It's the same thing with the blootooth headset, why? You plug the normal one straight into the controller, which you are holding...

The 360 doesnt use bluetooth technology...shows how much you really know:p. Advantages to the wireless headset is that you dont have to carry around the controller when having a conversation...have had plenty of convos with my bro in Canada sat at my desk on my laptop and not having to worry about ripping the cable out. Makes life easier imho plus a hell of a lot more comfier than the wired headsets.
