Players you really admire in other teams

Standouts for me in the Prem are Tevez (workrate of a bull and never say die attitude), Gerrard (unquestionable commitment and single handedly holding a decent team together) and Given (godlike in goal at times). I'd also like to add Arteta (flair and intelligence akin to Fabregas) before his injury.

Recently i'd add Drogba (a human behemoth with unstoppable strength and power) and Rooney (desire, will to succeed and passion unsurpassed).

I'm very surprised no one has mentioned a certain Brazilian boy also known as KAKA. Genius footballer with a poise and elegance also seen in Federer.

Zidane, no contest.

Messi, Casillas, Platini, Bergkamp.

Strictly Current Prem Only

Bullard (who doesn't?)
Fat Frank
Richard Dunne
David Dunn
Rodallega
Rooney
Diop when he was at Fulham

Cristiano Ronaldo - His talent.
David Beckham - His talent and sportsmanship.
Rooney - He's evolved to become what people said he would become, one of, if not, the best striker in the world atm.
Torres - When he isn't injured, he's amazing to watch hassle defences.
Casillas - Top goalie, watched his debut with Real Madrid and i was amazed with some of the saves he made.

He's widely over rated thats why :D

Ireland - he plays for Citah but I cant hold even that against him

Damn straight, he's been mostly slated since getting to Real Madrid, still the majority of his goals are from penalties others have won for him. Watch any game this year and he contributes the least of the offensive players, Diarra is involved in more build up play and great moves with Ronaldo, Higuane, Benzema(ish, also a flop for his price but less so than Kaka) than Kaka is.

He frequently gives it away, constantly miscontrols it, poor shooting, poor passing and non existant defensive help, Ronaldo tracks back more and more effective than he does aswell as being infintately more useful going forwards. Kaka scored a penalty, and a tap in created by Ronaldo in their 6-2 win, IIRC Ronaldo got 4 assists, a goal and was pee'd off not to take the 2nd penalty which Alonso took(as he hasn't scored yet) and Alonso has also been rather useless at Real offering very little offensively and not fantastic defensively either.

In years I've seen 1-2 great performances, but then, theres almost no player in the world who doesn't have a good game or two a year and the odd rare excellent game, hell Vassell looked world class...... once or twice.

Ireland, Given I forgot about, both fantastic players, I actually love watching RIchards aswell, he's like Gerrard, slow acceleration but a BIG guy and when they are at top speed you wouldn't want to get in their way. Richards when fit really gets going up the wing looking very dangerous, also maybe with Vermaelen takes huge huge hits and just gets up like it was nothing.

I really want to HATE Essien, but I can't, his first couple months he was just a midfield enforcer doing horrible tackles and really making a bad name for himself, since then he's been in a more natural never stops running attacking type player which is good to see. Robbie Blake has bits of genius about him, great to watch when fit and on form.

Like others have said, Arteta is a real classy player at Everton. Ivanovic is incredibly underrated by a lot of people, he's not a natural right back but is so good defensively and getting forward you would think he'd played there all his career. Drogba too, he's an incredible player on form, if he gets one chance he'll usually take it. Torres and Reina at Liverpool, I have a lot of admiration for. Fabregas is probably the biggest player in the league I'd love to see at Old Trafford (it would never happen but I can dream). :p

I think Stephen Ireland is being wasted at City, he possibly has a few more levels to go until we see his true potential. I also like the looks of Klasnic at Bolton, Diamanti and Hines at West Ham. Modric and Kranjcar at Spurs I also like watching.

I'm going to try and keep this in check by only naming currently active players that haven't really won many big honours (i.e. obvious choices) or are ex-Arsenal players:

Brad Friedel
Shay Given
Michael Duberry
Ricardo Quaresma
Angel Di Maria
Valon Behrami
Vincent Kompany
Michael Johnson
Adam Johnson
Mikel Arteta

Ah stuff it, I'll throw in a couple of "alltime legends" that I admire hugely:

Matt Le Tissier
Zinedine Zidane
Paolo Maldini

Adams - battled his deamons
Stuart Pearce - mucho passiono

Messi
Kaka

Tim Cahill

Ian Wright

I'm a Bolton fan and Carlos Tevez was outstanding when we played them in December. It was just at the time he was coming to form and he ran the show that day. One of the best performances seen at the Reebok Stadium for years.
