Hi all

Been meaning to ask this for a long time now actually

I have Windows 10 home with a nividia GTX 970.

Obviously i have set the in game graphics options to how i want (HIGH detail for example)
Is there any point in then touching the "Nvidia Control Panel" in windows ?

will these work independently to each other?

any tips or links around ?
thanks

No point really, unless you want to mess with colour options or set Performance over GFX. In 3D settings set "prefer max performance" for example. You can get a bit more performqance from Afterburner etc and worth doing if frames are a bit lower than you wanted.

What about the ambient occlusion setting in the Nvidia panel? This seems to default to OFF, does this overide any in game setting? Seems a bit odd this would default to off as I thought ambient occlusion was a pretty good effect if you card can handle it.

It is a brute force attempt to put Ambient Occlusion into games that don't have it - it won't over-ride as in turn off AO implemented in a game - potentially can conflict with those that do if AO is on both in the nVidia control panel and ingame but nVidia should have taken care of that in the application profiles.

The only game I remember forcing it on being useful was Skyrim and even then it had mixed results unless you used some additional mods to remove the weird affect it could have around rocks sometimes especially in foggy weather.
