I have a problem where every time I try and play some media (eg: MPEG) my whole screen immediately goes into a series of vertical lines, very neat and clear and uniform, kind of a greeny yellowy colour, and there is no way of getting the picture back without rebooting.
I am using an X1900 XTX and in all other things (gamine etc) my computer is perfectly fine... it's only playing media that I get this problem.
What is likely the problem and any possible fixes? Is this a codec issue? Graphics card (though unlikely)?
