Wondering if any WOW players out there could help me.

I am a elf at level 11 and i have done some quests and i don't have a clue what to do.

Is the idea to just explore and things will just pop up or is there a story to play through.

any advice on what to do now would be helpful.

There are usually quests around the area where you started that will lead you on to the next part of the story. The next part is usually in another city :)

No real story as such, you do a quest hand it in do another hand it in, repeat untill lvl 80 and party up with friends and strangers to do instances which take 5,10 and 25 people to kill the mobs. Enjoy

/sigh. you can say the same about any game... Crysis: you just shoot some guys and then things freeze and shoot some aliens then you shoot some bigger aliens and the game is over. ignorance is not a bliss

A bit over defensive there. He didnt actually say anything bad about the game lol

I always found the night elf starting areas quite confusing as the quests don't really flow. If you're level 11, you've probably only done quests on Teldrassil. There's a portal in Darnassus which takes you to a free flight path - turn left on to the wooden platform and there should be an npc you can talk to. Fly to Auberdine and you should find plenty of quests there.

Normally there will be at least one quest telling you where to go next when you finish an area, but its not always the case. Towns should have an arrow pointing to them on the map, and the majority of quests are in them.

Touch a nerve did he? ;)

If its your first mmo then it will seem very big. Will take anything up to 6 months to a year to get to know all the areas and where you are going. Its all probably changed since I played the proper wow before all the puffy expansions.

Best wya to get to the next quests - as daft as this may sound, follow the path. Stop every so often, look around, see any gold '!' thats a quest you can do, go talk to the person. I think when your quest is ready to hand in the ! changes to a ?.

So, follow the road, this will lead you to the village/town for more quests.

You can always look up any quest you need help with on wowhead.com - lots of useful maps, and advice on there.

Which server are you on ?

Technically there is a story there, in fact if you have played previous Warcraft games it is very visible (I haven't just so you know). I don't know the story well, but there is actually a reason for quite a few of the quests and raids, if you read all the quests...

I would recommend though that the op gets carbonite quest to help him level.

I hope you wern't planning on achieving anything with you life over the next year OP. ;)

Why not? I raid like 2 - 3 nights a week, we have cleared all 10 man stuff in my guild, and most of 25 (we are a small guild, and really don't bother with 25 man stuff).

WOW is basically as time consuming as you let it be, and honestly I find that people will just play CS, Street Fighter or whatever just as much.

Don't get me wrong though, some people do take it way to far, but if you are sensible and choose a guild with the time tables to suit you, there is no reason to spend 50 hours a week on it.

Exactly the same as my current experience with WoW. In a 10 man, close knit guild which has cleared all 10 man content and only raid 2-3 nights a week, not all of which I attend most of the time.

I tend to arrange raids for nights I have lectures the next day, means Ill stay in and have a nice relaxing night - Actually helps me achieve stuff that way.
