Playing Wow

Well i've no idea what im trying to say tbh ..lol all i know is that Oblivion catches me but i cant seem to get into an mmo atall, so i guess that means mmo's are not for me? or maybe i need a decent guild and some online friends to play? I just find in WoW on my own doing quests and killing just boored me to death and also i had a vv bad comptuer then and had gfx lag. I've not tryed it since my new setup.

It's a difficult one to say whether you should try again or not. For me, the highlight of the game has always been playing with other people. Not random pick up groups, but guilds of friends made over time through playing. The times I have played the most, have been when I've had a good guild that I enjoyed playing with, from low levels right up to 60. It can be very hit or miss though, and I've struggled to find a guild that I like for some time now. A lot of raiding guilds require applications and a "commitment" of a certain amount of time per week, which isn't really easy for a casual player like myself.

You might get lucky, and find a really good guild where you can have genuine friends. However, you might not, and it could completely put you off the game. A lot of other players are very derisive of people who don't know much too, which doesn't help.

I enjoy the RPG part of the game, which means the quests and leveling up. If you don't like that bit, it's really not worth playing unless you have other people to play with.

I think you'd probably be better off looking towards other RPGs, rather than MMOs, since you prefer Oblivion. If you've not already done so, try the Final Fantasy series (XI is the mmo, so give it a miss ;)), and Neverwinter Nights, as they are other RPGs.

I am addicted, I have 78 days of playtime on one char, and > 50 days on another char.

And I am bored out of my mind, but I still enjoy it... somehow. Its compulsive.

You need to do what i did mate.

i had similar hours to you, and i would spend most of my time in Orgrimmar just chatting away. and running about doing pointless things.

then i quit, and realised i didnt miss it much.

spend my time with girlfriend and gym more , feel a lot LOT LOT better for ditching it

Like a lot of people hear I play only with a few friends - at the beginning I was happy to solo as discovering different areas was enough draw for me (being a rogue helped with that :))

Have unsubcribed and subcribed now two times. It is always good to dive in every so often. With the expansion comng out I am now resubscribed and will get sucked in just because of the new areas. Whether I stay at it this time remains to be seen - I can always cancel again if I get bored.

I need to play with RL friends to get the most enjoyment - if not I might as well play a single player game - which I end up doing.

I think wow is fine for casual gamers, just don’t get caught up in the whole must have better gear mentality that a lot of players seem to get. I have only ever set foot in ZG a handful of times and really have no interest in doing the same raids over and over again in the hope of getting some epic item that is a marginal improvement over your old one. No disrespect to people who do this but it just doesn’t appeal to me. Luckily the recent PVP changes means that the casual players can now get some decent gear to play with.

Luckily I am in a guild that just enjoys having a laugh more than anything and a couple of my mates play it so whenever we play we all go on vent and just mess around, do a bit of PVP or go off looking for some alliance to kill.

I think to make the best of wow you have to be in a good guild with people you like or playing with friends, I really don’t enjoy wow playing by myself, I get bored of it very quickly.

I don't have a girlfriend, I just play every night until the wee hours.

I am the very very worst definition of a geek.

PVP and killing Alliance would be the same thing :p.

Until the most recent patch, end game has been terrible for casual gamers. It's difficult to make any sort of raiding progression if you only want to raid once a week, and it was impossible to get anywhere with PVP. When I gave up on raiding, end game really was just the end of a character for me.

120 Days /played on my 60 Rogue
Something like 90 Days /played on my 60 Warrior.
45 Days /played on my 60 Mage.

Was in the guild Decimation if anyones heard of them for a while, I quit the game for a bit though so left :p

Account got hacked like a month ago, getting it back this week lol, Blizzard are moving the characters back to my server for free and everything for me :D

Jihad, are you aware that's over two thirds of a year?

That is one hell of a long time. I suppose it might be spread out, but still!

Okay next month i've decided to take on Wow Again but as cashual as i have a missues etc :P i've also pre-orderd the wow expansion :o zomg! is there any guild / ocuk guild in wow i could hook up with?

Thats another thing even though i've played Druid / Hunter ingame the character doesnt energise me enough, i find playing Oblivion im a warrior hack and slash is fine, so maybe i should try the warrior path in WoW?

It is a good game but you need to play with friends....

Without them it gets too repetative.

At lvl 58 i just couldnt put 3 hours plus a night just to do instances, so thats when I stopped.

:(

Exactly.

When I first played WOW I was hooked, I'd never played anything so much as it was totally new to me and the sheer size of the world was amazing. However when you get higher and higher more and more time is required. You can't just pick it up and play for 30mins. Playing with friends or a guild is so much better.

Haven't played it for months and months now.

I loved the game up till about 40 then quite for a few months played again loved it got to 60 and quit and aint played it in months now lol 60 killed it for me, though i might try again with a horde and buy BC :p

I'm enjoying it immensely. I'm a lv21 rogue and totally hooked on this game. I still only manage to play 2 hours a day otherwise the missus would go berserk on me. I set myself 2 quests a day and once achieved, that's it.

It was my boyfriend who got me into the game, and I've got a lot more played hours than he does ;). Be careful :p.
